Silver Spring

Sep 04, 2008 15:54

Today, I have been doing washing and being a Flickr whore. During the course of pegging numerous pairs of socks on the line, I noticed that Spring really was in the air, so during the course of my Flickr-whoring, I made a Spring mosaic to subject you guys to.

That flicker reminds me of that part in Devil Wears Prada where Meryl berates someone for suggesting florals for spring- "Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking!" . (Man, I really have to stop with these guilty pleasure movies...I can feel my taste sliding away with each insult on my cinematic integrity )

Anyway, I'm kinds interested in seeing how you decorate your house... I have little aptitude for this stuff.

If I could get away with it, I'd go for shabby chic, but both my father and boyfriend would not approve. I find a more ecclectic retro thing more liveable anyway- when my father doesn't leave sporting memorabilia, clothes and whatever else around the house. I even had to move some things out of the common areas because he's careless.

We were going to move a while ago, too, so I started packing furniture away and haven't moved anything back since we decided we were happy here.

Also, I've seen that movie, but it was on TV, so at least I didn't pay for it.

Personally, I love shabby chic. My old room was shabby chic to an extent. If I had the money to actually buy things that aren't crap from a dollar store or the cheapest thing on sale I could find at Zellers, I would probably have a very girly, very shabby chic room right now. Pastelly purples with that shabby chic white.

very pastel-y but I must admit I want to make those muffins with my new muffins forms... and the dresses looks darling...

(devil wears prada is not a bad bad film .... 27 dresses is)

Cupcakes- muffins aren't iced or cakey.

The pinkness is a bit alarming, but I've always been a big flower lover and those were my favourite flowers on Flickr at the moment.

I must comment that 27 dresses definitely made me roll my eyes and cringe. I didn't even finish watching it. But I came back in the room as it was ending and was just like YUCK when I saw the bridesmaids wearing all the dresses and everyone happy and cheerful. Never saw the Devil Wears Prada but my mom loves it (as she also likes 27 dresses) so I'd probably hate it.

Comment on title: Did you know Silver Springs is one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs? Stevie Nicks is my favorite singer.

You know, I was looking at that bed picture and thinking it might be pretty neat to have that as your bed. But then I realized it would just be creepy. I mean having a bird's nest over your head. And those trees are a bit dark too, the lack of leaves, very winterish and dead. I of course love such things, but meh, somehow I think sleeping in a bed like that would give me nightmares. And imagine the shadows that those tree branches would cast in the moonlight. lol. Hmm, I wonder if it's a raven's nest. Imagine that black bird just staring at you from its nest while you sleep. Reminds me of Hemingway (Was it??? that wrote The Raven???)

Yeah, that's my random pondering for the evening.
