Oh, how cool is this!! Through neat animation and short text explaining what's done, you can see exactly what they did to my knee, except as I recall, my doc didn't take my ACL out because the new one is reconstructing the old one to form a new one altogether.

Take a look, it's awesome. Just click "I Agree" and then "Knee" in the animations

That's right, you're a nurse, huh? Yeah, they might appreciate that. :)

what did you do to your knee to require this in the first place?

Wow, where'd you come from? Lol, I've never seen your SN before, is all. :)

Eh, six weeks before my black belt test, those of us on our dojang's demonstration team were practicing our aerial stunts and kicks, and in kind of a fluke event, I did an aerial kick that I've done a hundred times before, but I just happened to screw my momentum this one time.

In order to try and fix the angle in which I was falling (too far forward), I over-compensated in tilting to the left side. Consequently, this transferred all of my body's weight to my left leg as I landed on just my left foot, with all that power, weight, and speed behind it, and the impact forced my knee out of joint.

I dislocated my patella and shredded my ACL at the femural attachment. Crazily enough, with the help of my master and encouragement from my team, I still managed to test for my black belt six weeks later, and achieved it. No small task, and 10 years in the making. It's over a year later now, and I've just finally got it fixed (insurance issues).

wow... impressive.

And sorry for de-cloaking without giving proper warning... I was bored and going though people's journals that had an interest in fire eating... your name popped up. And as your icon is a pic of (I assume) you in ren garb... and I as well do play a fool for a ren fest in MD.... I thought I would drop in a line to you.

Pleasure to make your aquaintance, anticmuse.

:\ We all do what we can for what we love..

And it's no problem, but I just don't usually expect to see SN's I don't recognize responding in my journal, as opposed to responding to something I wrote in a community or another's journal. It's a small chance, I figure, that of all the names that could show up under any given interest, mine's one that a person chooses to click on. Then again, I suppose beginning with an 'a' kind of puts it right there.. :]

But yes! I play many things at faire, among them a fool type--village idiot to be more precise. And fire-eating is something I enjoy but haven't had a lot of opportunities to do the past year. I'm out of practice. :\
