I made it down to
Canandaigua lake last night, finally. I've been meaning to go for a couple weeks now but haven't had the energy nor time for it.
It was one hell of a ride, came out to a total of 38.0 miles before I had to call it quits. I left around 4:30-5ish, and eventually stopped around 9:00. I would've kept going, but it was just too dark and the upcoming roads were just too busy for riding. I ended up stopping just south of route 90 and calling BP for a ride. I really wish I had left earlier because I think I could've made it back. At least I made it almost half-way back.
I really need to bring a camera next time I go on a trip like this, there were tons of awesome views. The view down the hill over route 90 was awesome, as was the ride - I hit the fastest speed recorded on my bike - 32.3 miles/hr (although I think the Browncroft/Blossom ride was faster, but I didn't have the bike computer yet).
Canandaigua itself is a pretty nice town. A little touristy in some spots, but it has a kinda small-town, comfy feel to it. Were it closer to Rochester, I wouldn't mind living there (aside from the 5 cops I saw pulling people over. Seriously, I know it's the end of the month, but wtf?)
The lake was great too, at the tip of the lake you could see down it for miles and miles. And when I got there, there was actually some event going on, like some sort of live orchestra and food and whatnot. It was nice for background while resting.
