Though I have some serious doubts as to the usefulness of that. It's whatever thunderbird stores in my News profile. I poked around a bit and it seems more like a way to show which messages are read.

Mine from the unix mail reader pan2. There's an article-cache folder that has the caches and the groups folder seems to have headers.

recovering data from drives anonymous March 4 2009, 05:50:24 UTC
DriveSavers is a great choice for data recovery. We use them at work when we encounter seriously fucked drives.

But without entirely understanding your problem, let me say this: CSH will hurt far less financially speaking if you can find a replacement RAID card - their prices start at the four figure mark and for RAID/unusual setups will only go up.

It's not the card. We got it to start, but the configuration on the card or one of the drives or something god-aweful-stupid is AFU.

10 months of news posts aren't likely worth what any of those places charge. Write it off and forget about it. If CSH has money to spend on recovering news, spend it on more resiliant hardware so this doesn't happen again instead.

Here's the news cache I have (all groups except for control and junk) from Thunderbird 2.0.0.19/win32. The bastard is 73 MB uncompressed; not sure what percentage of news that actually is.

It doesn't have anything from the past week or so, as I haven't checked news in a while.

You're gonna name a machine after me for this one, right? ;)

My Thunderbird News files (though, like Dave said, I looked at it a little and I'm not sure how helpful it will be).

So, what happened to everything? All I can figure out is that our servers seem to have exploded. Do we know why this happened? Also, what else is down besides News and Mail?
