Personaly I agree, and have never realy understood the concept of free will (as a philosophical idea). However, I have heard it argued that the element of choice occurs because the firing of neurons within the human brain is a chaotic phenominon (a mathematical term meaning that very small things can cause very large effects) dependent upon individual actions on the quantum level - at which point the argument goes that quantum uncertainty is the effect of free will upon the universe.

Now, that brings up a whole other kettle of fish regarding distinction between self and other (and also assumes that the brain realy is chaotic dependant upon quantum phenomina, which AFAIK is not generaly considered to be the case).
