Random happy things

it hasn't been all living in Grumpville here,

1.) I think I like making things. I'm finalizing a Faramir costume for Art: I'm almost done with the leather vambraces and I finished the gambeson with the tree of Gondor emblazoned in silver! Working with hard leather was a little challenging, but I found out that old Singer sewing machines will sew through leather. ...also an incentive for finishing Faramir's ranger garb is that I might be able convince Art to dress up with me if/when the Hobbit comes out! It'll match my Eowyn outfit. =)

2.) Going over to my friends' apartment for "Arts & Crafts" day! Which means that we all work on our separate projects with anime on in the background. I finally was able to finish Moyashimon (adorable) and finish carving the leather for the bracers at the same time! (Debbie, I remember you recommending this and my avoiding it because I saw the tagline was "Tales of Agriculture." I think I really just need to trust your recommendations.)

3. My friends also showed me me to this stellar AMV set to "Mitternacht" by E Nomine. Art and I have had it continuously playing in the background since it's a compilation of badass scenes from Vampire Hunter D, Hellsing, and Blood: the Last Vampire, somewhat appropriate for this time of year. Art's also playing Castlevania. [I've also come to realize that the only vampires I like are the ones that hunt down other vampires.]

4.) Speaking of youtube videos, I was in kind of a funk over the weekend, so Art suggested that we look up videos of corgis. Which is why we didn't leave the apartment until 3PM on Sunday. Because there were gems like "Corgi swim lessons," "Corgi/cat altercation," "Corgi herding sheep", and "Pooped out Corgi puppy." Especially that last one! Her limbs are so stubby! XD Definitely felt better afterwards.

5.) Big cats love pumpkins! The Seattle Zoo also has their annual Pumpkin Bash this weekend, when they give pumpkins and other Halloween-related goodies to the animals! We loved watching the jaguar bat around her pumpkin last year.

6.) Mark Reads Harry Potter: Mark is almost to my favorite chapter "The Prince's Tale," which I've been looking forward to seeing his take given his reactions to previous posts. Yes, for someone who claims that they're not romantic, I'm kind of a sentimental sap when it comes to this chapter. I also cried at the end of The Amber Spyglass and can tell you my favorite bits of Narnia, Ender's Game, etc.

7.) Questionable Content published a physical book, which we bought about an hour after it was for sale. Yep.

8.) I'm almost done writing my first publication! ...took me long enough... But it will be good and hopefully will pass review!

9.) We're making our own chai right now. We don't have a recipe quite right yet, but the cardamon and cinnamon sticks were so cheap at World Spice down at Pike's Place that we don't mind experimenting! Besides, if we run out, I can always go back down and then pick up some of their truffle salt, which I've been wanting to try...

10.) Our friends invited us to a Seattle Baroque Orchestra concert on Sunday, which was fabulous! Their ending piece had a soprano and an alto vocal soloists who blew us away. I was thinking that it had been a while since I heard violins sing, but even longer for actual singing.
