A, as usual is carrying books.  Not his traditional armload this time--only three or four, but he wasn't particularly looking forward to reading them anyway.  Particle Physics, absolute nutjob recants of Time Traveling, a book on the circus, and one he's read so many times, the spine was fraying--A Study on the Applications of Schroedinger's Theory ( Read more... )

[B walked evenly with A as they made their way down the hall. His copy of Othello was in his back pocket so he might have his hands free to shove into his pockets.

He honestly hadn't expected A to be around or accept his offer of company during the trek to the library, but he was glad for A's presence, as always.

The question, though, makes him press a finger to his lower lip in thought.]

I do suppose that is highly possible, though testing the idea would be immensely difficult, as you would need the exact area of the mansion, time frame of movement, and which rooms are affected by it.

[B pauses mid-step, squinting down the hall as the lights slowly begin to dim. He turns his head back the other way, but those lights are also going out. It doesn't take long for them both to be shrouded in complete darkness, and while he himself can see perfectly (due to his unnatural eye), he knows A cannot.] ...the corridors also change? [He's still peering around, not liking how the entire environment has changed from mansion to a rundown hospital.]

He listens--or, tries to, turning around quickly and dropping his books with four corresponding thuds on the floor. A instinctively moves closer to where he thought B was in the sudden darkness, reaching out blindly.

I--I d-don't know. Th-there's a ghost. H-he t-turns the... he turns the lights out s-sometimes...

His heart is racing faster. There's fear in his voice.
