Computer Vision (Artificial Intelligence). I am working on face images, particularly questions on how to define/improve 'recognizability' of a face.

Frankly I’m a little glad to be rid of the Epistler. It would be good to know what direction things are going to go.

I don't think you guys realize the severity of the situation. The deleted posts and comments aren't from anything the mods have done (I don't think). Both theepistler and torylltales have deleted their accounts, and apparently that means all of their posts and comments get deleted too. On top of that, the mods have locked this place down. You can't make new posts, or at least I can't. If you go here you can see that membership is now closed, and posting is limited to moderators and select members.

The lockdown could be permanent or maybe not, but even if it's temporary, losing two of our top contributors is probably a death blow to a community this small.

Dear esteemed moderators,

Seeing this place stand as a graveyard makes me sad. Knowing that the jerks who used to frequent here just upped stakes and carried on annoys me. Seeing all this drama unfold and then go unremarked for a week makes me wonder: what do you have planned? Are you going to rebrand the community in some way? Do you want to delete everything? Some third thing? Whatever it is, do it soon. If this place is done then I’d rather see it wiped out than see it abandoned, never to be updated again.

Wishing you the best,

Anon

Hey, so uh, is it ok if I can learn about what's going to happen? I'd tried reaching out a few weeks before, but I didn't get a response.

I don’t believe you’ll get one. I’m disappointed but it seems like the admins have decided to freeze this place. I’m surprised it hasn’t been deleted.

There’s a new community, but I’m also disappointed in their decision to simply up stakes. Deleting of accounts at the first sign of opposition wasn’t a mature way to handle it.

I wish this hadn’t happened. From what I remember the Epistler waltzed back here in 2015, and didn’t get mobbed. I think it was rich to act like Hackslayer was some traitor.

Are you familiar with Epistler? I'm kinda curious with how you know her.

I know that she was there on the first site, and wrote the ten Epistles. From what I can tell, she’s old guard but not the founder.

I remember that she left, asked for the Epistles to be deleted, and said Antishurtugal was immature. Then, changing her mind, she came back and quickly became the lead contributor. My point really is that nobody was furious that she returned, and she got the chance to add to the community (all this AFTER asking for her original critiques to be purged and decrying the community)

Flash forward to a few weeks ago. Hackslayer comes in, and immediately Epi and Toryll, the gatekeepers of this community, decree that she has been too long absent and that she’s too pompous. Then within a day accounts are deleted and a bullshit mutiny takes place, pointlessly.

Perhaps if Epistler had extended the same courtesy on which she relied when she came back here, this community wouldn’t have imploded.
