It's a little like Valentine's Day, but it's actually a celebration of the first part of spring. [A pause as he considers...] It's from Romania, so even though we celebrated it where I grew up I think we had some differing traditions. Anyway, some older people believed that if one member of a couple steps on another's foot on that day they'll be the one in control of the relation.

Some older people back home believed that if you step on your partner's foot, you will have the dominant role in your relationship.

[Though actually, it's supposed to be over. But on just makes it seem funnier to him personally]
