At November SEMGS we empirically determined the upper tolerance limit for our house to be 29 adults, and 7 boys under the age of 12. (This for an attempt at a sit down Thanksgiving type dinner.)
Normally we have anywhere between 10 and 30 people over when it is at our house. Some hosts limit the guest list for a particular gathering. The larger gatherings work better if the food is spread out over a long period of time, like at Pizza Lab, or Soup Lab.
If you are ever in the Detroit area on the first Saturday of the month, let me know, and you can check it out.

I suspect that only 20ish have shown up when I host, which is well since I have 1 fewer living rooms.
