If you ask me what my religious beliefs are, I will tell you I am an atheist. I do not believe in the existence of god(s), nor of the supernatural. This is not a positive belief that there are no gods or phenomena that might be called supernatural, this is the lack of belief. I consider Unitarian Universalism to be a way station between being religious and being an atheist. I don't know if I ever mentioned this but a friend of mine was a Mormon living in Utah and occasionally visiting NYCAtheists when she was in NYC. Back home her family is still Mormon and the few atheist organizations in Utah are not near where she lives so she's also joined her local Unitarian Universalist church.

Unitarian Universalism may end up being the church/synagogue/mosque of the future.

See, this is where we disagree. I do not see UU as a stopping point on the road to atheism. They are related only by the fact that the UU has no creed or dogma and welcomes atheists. One doesn't graduate to full-blown atheism ( ... )
