I went to bed that night without watching the news nor did I watch it the following morning. I left my place and walked into the rain. It seemed to me that everyone I saw here in NYC was somber. I then passed a newspaper stand and saw, much to my amazement and disgust, that somehow Mr Deplorable had won the election. When I read that while standing in the rain I felt like Mother Nature was actually crying. I can't believe how many stupid people are in our country willing to threaten it and our planet.

I really blame the so-called news media for doing such an awful job of reporting the truth about this despicable man. It's as if we're going to be dragged back a 100 years to a time of segregation, lack of women's rights, no rights for gay people and no social security, medicare etc.

I don't think we comprehend just how badly our rights, specifically our First Amendment rights, are in danger. Trump has tipped his hand on multiple occasions before and after the election that he has zero respect for the First Amendment.

That's how dictators destroy the power of free speech and the free press. They don't typically run on a platform of them, but once in power, they view these and other rights as threats to unlimited power and do everything they can to squash them.

We're in trouble.
