White parasite

It appears I now have a cat- at least for awhile. A series of events happened yesterday which showed her loyalty to me. No, not the crow thing. I will not get into the incident so don't even ask. She's now on a 90 day probational period. I took her to the vet to be tested to make sure she didn't have any diseases. She checked out fine and got shots ( Read more... )

1) I don't want to put a litterbox in the bathrooms- that's just gross. If I put it in the laundry room there could be a chance clothes would fall in it. That would make me very unhappy.

2) I'll bathe her myself. No animal will get the better of me.

3) I'll have to train her well. Maybe a cat bed would help.

4) Hmm. If it becomes a problem I may look into declawing. I would prefer not to.

I want to make sure I have everything ready before she stays in. I want no pooping on floors, no getting on beds and no rolling on clothes.

"They have little brains the size of walnuts. It is no wonder they get smooshed by cars."
This made me smile.

1) um... don't drop your clothes in cat shit, freak.
2) good luck. My son has had to bathe Bodhi before and he gets in the shower with him and closes the glass door. harder if you have curtain. You can do it in the sink. Grab her by that skin on the back of her neck (where mamma cats pick them up) and she won't be able to do much. She will just stand there and be pissed.
3)AAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

as soon as she knows she has a box, that is where she will poo, don't leave clothes out. Cats love to sit on clothes. I don't know what to tell you about the bed. I suggest you bathe her, dry her as much as you can, and deal with the fact she is going to get on the bed.

Also, to prevent hairballs, get a small jar of vaseline. About once a week put a smear of it on her paw. She will lick it off (because they hate stuff on their fur) and it will help prevent hairballs. You can buy this stuff at the petstore that is in a tube and stinks (2 of my cats love it, the other two hate it) but smear some vaseline on paw will work just as well.

"um... don't drop your clothes in cat shit, freak."

You've never carried a pile of clothes and some of them fall to the side?

Is the kitty longhaired? If so, you way want to take her to a groomer ( ... )

She's short-haired, thank goodness.

"Cats love things that smell like their people (hence why you'll often find kitty curled up in your bed or in your dirty laundry basket)."

And here I thought they did that just to be annoying.

If she's short-haired you could probably bathe her at home. You can buy pet shampoo at Wal-Mart.

She'll sleep in your jacket, too, if you leave it spread over something: it smells like you and it's warm, which is double score in the cat world.

What do you mean by sleeping in my jacket?

1. One litterbox per cat is sufficient. I prefer clumping litter personally. If you can afford to get a Littermaid, get one. Don't get a refurbished one though; in my experience, they die quick (~6 months, as versus 2.5 years ( ... )

"Cats sleep wherever they want. I suggest getting used to the cat being on the bed."

This one won't. I'll make sure of it.

I look forward to the entries where you have trained the cat where to sleep

I doubt it. I feel sorry for anything that would try to eat a banana slug. He stays in his terrarium most of the time anyway.

Any particular reason you're using that icon?

You have a pet banana slug? That is wild.

Yes. His name is Sammy. He almost fell on me. I was looking for a banana slug though- unlike this cat.
