The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.
Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

The longer answer is that given that the only school I applied to in all of CA was Berkeley (okay, I also applied to Caltech, but it was only in my parent's dream that I was going to get in), it was the most affordable choice (and they outright admitted me instead of the waiting list I got at the Ivy League schools).

Lilly does have an accent. It's English.
I was raised in CA which doesn't really have one. However, I spent years with professional vocal trainers insisting I use "taller" sounding/shaped vowels when singing (which tend to sound very English) and clearer enunciation than would be normal. Add to that, I picked up bits of Southern accent from living in VA for a while (mostly comes out when I'm very, very tired and/or have spent time with Kat, Charlie, or Neka), and now Beth is claiming that she's catching bits of New England accents when I talk to her on the phone.
So, if I do have an accent (which I rarely hear in myself), it's a complete mish mush of my life.

Part two, what authors have influenced you throughout life? Why?
Something fun, something a little serious:D *hugs*

Authors is a difficult question. In the short term the style of any author I'm reading / have recently read will tend to influence my patterns of speech and writing. For more significant influence, I can't think of anything. I've read so much and it's the sum total of it that makes me who I am. I don't have a favorite author. Anything well written on a subject that interests me is good. I can name specific books I've read repeatedly (Shakespeare, Tolkien, Elizabeth Moon, Heinlein come to mind), but I can't think of an author whose works I can point to and say "This is what shaped my view on X, Y, and Z."
