Am I the only one who finds it mildly ironic that so many angst-dorks are usings songs from a Christian band to write suicide fics?

I've heard conflicting reports: a few of my friends have said they've dropped the Christian label entirely, but me not being a very up-on-music-news person, I'm not sure if they are or not. I do distinctly recall several Christian music stores yanked 'Fallen' off the shelves after they hesitated/downplayed the Christian angle consistently.

POD's never tried to hide their Christian point of view and they're certainly doing fine; not sure why Evanescence was so worried.

And I do find it terribly ironic that Evanescence's music - which does have distinctive Christian elements and allegory - is frequently used in suicide fics.

That was pretty bad. ~cringes~ If only people would stop to think that normal people DO NOT talk like that. ~headdesk~ Lyrics should never be dialogue. I have to go claw out my eyes now.

...and inflicting all this Evanescence rip-off on us, THAT's not cruel? It deserves 4/6.

Two votes for 4/6. Will do.

A double assault on both Spirited Away and Evanescence? *cringe*

Burn this one with a 4/6. It needs it.

Burning shall promptly commence. As for the double assault, some people know no boundaries.

Your icon is excellent, by the way.

Evanescence is becoming a fangirl cliche, I swear. I have seen lyrics from that album used for *so* many badfics. Which pains me, because I love that album . . . it was the first CD by a contemporary American pop/rock band that I'd bought in several years.

Yeah... and it's sad too, because those are some great songs. 'My Last Breath' is so moving and it's so frikkin' bothersome when some angst-whore's Sue kicks the bucket and they shove the lyrics in the background.

Gwah.

I think 'Everybody's Fool' suits the Sues best.

Perfect by nature, icons of self-indulgence...

I've come across a few songs by some of my favorite artists lately that remind me very much of Mary Sues. "Silver Girl" by Fleetwood Mac, on the new album, and then the Absolute Perfect PotC Mary Sue Songfic Song, "Village on the Sand" by Blackmore's Night.

I love both songs (the last one is one of the most catchy damn things ever) but "Silver Girl" basically lists a Mary Sue and her traits, and "Village on the Sand" could be novelized as a Mary Sue with absolutely no effort whatsoever...

That's almost alarming. Good songs, but easily applicable to the Sue crisis.

By the by, you aren't the Swiftgold, are you? The absolutely wonderful writer Swiftgold?
