actually, it's quite cool in here, but not painfully so. Usually this place is so over air-conditioned that it hurts my fingers to type because they get stiff. I'm hiding out and getting caffienated in order to see if i can't get motivated into Action ( Read more... )

The question of why it is that with more than enough and more than people have ever had in the history of the world, people in our society are still very unhappy, wallowing in their various addictions and abuses of themselves and others.

Some would argue that it is because we have reached a time where we have more than enough that we are unhappy. Think about it ... have you ever found yourself in a situation where you honestly had no choice but to make the best of it? And you probably did. Now think of most of our daily life where we are innundated with options to chose from. No matter what option you pick, there's always the possibility that you made the wrong choice - another option would have been better. So, it's actually choice that leads us to be unhappy. Of course, that's not to say that we'd be perfectly happy if we lost all ability to make choices. It's the Paradox of Choice (which is a really good book, IMO - but my opinion's possibly a bit biased because the book is really an armchair presentation of many of the ( ... )
