Summary: Sadie nodded and the call disconnected, leaving Hassleberry to wonder why the girl was suddenly wanting to see him so late at night.
A/N: One-shot. Set in my Tales from the Academy-verse.
Set sometime after the fourth season in what would be Hassleberry and Sadie's third year and Blaire's second.
Tyranno Hassleberry almost fell out of his bed when his pager went off at twenty-three minutes after midnight. He quickly righted himself and fumbled with the device trying to answer it before his roommate woke up and tried to kill him again (Sam could be pretty scary when he didn't get his thirteen hours). Finally getting the correct button, he watched as the screen came to life and Sadie Kurosaki appeared on the screen.
"Hey, Sarge," she greeted with a small wave, Kansai accent as thick as he always remembered. "Jus' wanted t'know if you'd come 'n meet me out by the lighthouse er somethin?"
"Sure," he replied, already pulling his boots on. "I'll be down there in a minute, Say."
Sadie nodded and the call disconnected, leaving Hassleberry to wonder why the girl was suddenly wanting to see him so late at night.
It took him about ten minutes to reach the cove, and he sat down against the lighthouse to wait for his friend. Across the way, he saw a flash, and, a moment later, Sadie appeared carrying a flashlight. The black-haired girl seated herself beside him without a word and joined him in watching the waves lap against the dock.
"So," Hassleberry began, turning to watch her from the corner of his gaze. "What's up?"
"Jus' wanted someone to talk to. It's so quiet nowadays," she stated, eyes reflecting glassily in the moonlight. "I miss havin em all around, y'know? An' they all live so far away..."
Hassleberry smiled sadly and wrapped an arm around the girl. "You still got me and Blaire," he reminded her. She leaned into him slightly with a sigh.
"Thanks, Tyranno. But Blaire hates me," she informed him in a matter-of-fact tone.
Hassleberry started laughing, and a few moments later she joined him.
"No. Seriously. She REALLY hates me."
