It’s not every case, by any stretch of the imagination, but it happens enough to annoy the hell out of Sam and Dean: They show up in town and the supernatural creature for the week has already been taken care of. Bobby’s never heard of any hunters who match the description of the man and woman who are apparently one step ahead of Sam and Dean. Then comes the time when Sam and Dean Winchester arrive in town the same day as Xander Harris and his sister Faith. First they get in each other’s way, then they find a synergy, and demolish the thing against all odds. It ends with Dean and Faith going off to fuck like bunnies, possibly with Dean making some crack about Sam not getting laid AGAIN. Possibly with Sam and Xander deciding to prove Dean wrong.
Xander Harris and Dean Forrester
I have to mess with the time frame so that Dean’s two or three years older than Xander. After his divorce and that mess with Rory, Dean went back to college, got a degree in mechanical engineering and got his dream job working in design for an auto company in Detroit. He was thrilled with his younger sister Clara got a scholarship to University of Michigan, because he can visit her often. Then Clara disappears, and all her roommate knows is that some older guy with an eyepatch had been hanging around, but Clara wouldn’t tell the roommate why. Dean is going to track down his sister and drag her back to school, stopping only to demolish the creep with the eyepatch. Instead, he ends up being captured by whatever captured Xander and Clara. There’s an opportunity for one, and only one of them to escape. Both Xander and Dean agree it has to be Clara. When they’re transferred from their cell for the sacrifice, they both put up a good fight, but it’s not enough. Fortunately, in the nick of time, Clara returns with a contingent of slayers. Dean and Xander are saved. There’s some pre-slashy discussions of the fact that Detroit is only 3 hours from Cleveland, and Dean will see Xander when he visits Clara at the Slayer compound, but it would take a sequel to actually get these two in bed together.

Remember that episode where Logan Eccles found out he had a half-brother who taught at a nearby private school? They got the name wrong. His half-brother wasn’t Charlie Stone, it was Xander Harris, who teaches at a private school for athletic girls. Veronica is suspicious of Xander. For one thing, he doesn’t blink an eye when Veronica tells him she’s a private detective. He’s the only person she’s ever met that wasn’t surprised a short blonde girl would be ready, willing and able to take on the bad guys of the world. If he wasn’t surprised, it must be because he already knew, because he’d had Logan investigated. Also, he lets slip that he never went to college. What kind of teacher never went to college? What’s really happening at this supposed school? Veronica investigates, and with Logan present, she confronts Xander with the facts that don’t add up. Xander won’t provide any answers. Scene ends with Xander, Logan, and Veronica all furious with each other. Then the bad guys kidnap Logan (because they are so damned sick of kidnapping Dawn). Veronica, Xander and the slayers save Logan and defeat the bad guys. Logan, Veronica and Xander bond.

Uhura is from a long line of African watchers. She is furious that the new council is sending some stupid white American out to ‘help’ the African watchers. She expects an arrogant idiot who will trample all over their customs and traditions while claiming that he knows best. She gets Xander instead. He surprises her, with his obvious humility and good humor, but she is still suspicious. Xander, meanwhile, falls for Uhura like a ton of bricks, but has absolutely no idea how to woo her. There are rumors of a new slayer. Xander and Uhura go together to check it out. In the face of imminent death, Xander declares his love. They are interrupted before she has a chance to respond. Once everything is safe, Uhura lets Xander know that they can start dating, but that she is both high maintenance and has very high standards for how she expects a boyfriend to treat her. Xander’s not worried. He dated Cordelia. If he can just avoid flukes, he’s golden.
Sam Winchester and Dean Forrester
Set after during season 2 of supernatural. Sam has a vision of himself getting killed by a ghost at a construction site in Connecticut. The brothers decide Dean Winchester (DW) will go kill the ghost. Sam will research online from a hotel room far away. DW drives arrives to find Sam getting beaten up by the ghost. DW hauls his mostly unconscious brother out of there and to a nearby hotel, where he patches him up. He goes out, accidentally leaving his cell phone on the hotel night stand. Dean Forrester (DF) is woken up by a ringing cell phone. He’s in a ton of pain, but he answers the phone. The guy on the phone identifies himself as Sam and demands to know where Dean is. DF is very confused, but manages to read the hotel’s address off the writing pad by the phone. When asked if he's okay, he says no. The guy on the phone says ‘wait there, I’m coming.’ DF’s not sure who Sam is, but he sounds like a good guy and DF is hurts too much to move anyway. DF goes back to sleep. DW discovers the ghost is well-known to only attacked unfaithful husbands. There are newspaper stories about the ghost’s grave being repeatedly desecrated and set on fire. DW calls Bobby. Other hunters have tried to take out this ghost but none have succeeded. DF wakes up, is still confused by where he is and how hurt he is, but decides he needs to get home. When he leaves the hotel room, the ghost attacks again. He collapses back into the room. Sam arrives at the hotel to find what must be a shapeshifter in Dean’s hotel room. It’s unconscious, so he wrestles it into a chair, ties it up and wakes it. Sam is interrogating it - threatening it with a silver knife when DW gets back to the hotel room. DW pulls his gun on whoever has tied up Sam, only to realize that it is Sam. Confusion is eventually cleared up, with DF proven to be human. DF asks to be taken home. DW tells him that once this ghost targets someone, she doesn’t stop until he's dead. The salt lines keep DF safe as long as he’s in the motel room, but once he leaves, the ghost will kill him. DF gets mad, tries to leave again, ends up back in the motel room. Research and bonding occur. Winchesters try searching a museum for a physical object connect to the ghost - no luck. They tell DF about what they did and didn’t find. DF is able to provide one more piece of info which, when added to what they know, tells them where to find the physical object. DF volunteers to distract the ghost while the Winchesters find and destroy the object. The Winchesters succeed. They all go out for pie (but not at Luke’s diner).

Sam Winchester is a freshman at Hearst College. Sophomore Veronica Mars is the TA for his Introduction to Criminology class. Strange things start happening in the classroom - things breaking or moving in a way that can’t be explained. Veronica catches Sam snooping around in the classroom, and decides he’s behind it somehow. She searches his room and discovers he has very few belongings, but they include a couple books in Latin and some wicked looking knives. She befriends Sam to try and figure out his motive for sabotaging the classroom. Sam befriends her to find out more about the various deaths at or associated with the college last year and who is the most likely candidate to be haunting the lecture hall. Veronica catches Sam breaking into the classroom late at night, but they’re attacked by a ghost while she’s confronting him. Sam introduces Veronica to ghost hunting. She helps him figure out which ghost it is, and together they do a salt and burn.

Uhura is Sam’s girlfriend at Stanford. She’s a genius and she’s majoring in languages, pretty much all of them. She’s surprised to discover Sam can read Latin, although he tries to claim he only knows a few words. When something supernatural starts threatening Stanford students, Sam has to step in. He needs her help translating a language he doesn’t know, but lies about what it is for. She figures it out anyway, follows him and of course ends up saving his ass. He rescues her right back and they defeat the supernatural threat together. He tells her about hunting, and it ends with her convincing him to call Dean.
Dean Forrester and Veronica Mars
Instead of moving to Stars Hollow, Dean’s family moves to Neptune. He and Wallace bond over being the new kids, and the fact that both have part-time jobs (maybe Dean works at the mini-mart, too). Dean is there when Logan goes after Veronica’s car with a baseball bat, and steps in to try and stop him. The confrontation is still ongoing when Weevil shows up and finishes it. Dean keeps showing up and trying to protect Veronica. Veronica finds it annoying as hell. She may even threaten to tazer him at one point. Eventually Dean figures in out, and says he’ll back off if she’ll go on a date with him. Veronica tries to pretend she doesn't like all the romantic stuff Dean does, but he's not fooled.

Uhura and Spock are just good friends (because as much as I love Dean Forrester no one would dump Spock for Dean). Dean works in engineering on the Enterprise. He knows the beautiful genius communications officer is way out of his league, but he asks her out anyway. Uhura is not all that impressed with Dean, but accepts because she's been bored lately. However, Dean is the best boyfriend in the universe. This is a documented fact. Uhura first learns to appreciate him and then begins to fall for him.

Veronica is a new agent at the FBI. Uhura is a codes expert. Together they solve crime. Could be gen, could be femslash.
