» Name: Ranma Saotome
» Fandom: Ranma 1/2
» Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranma_Saotome
» Canon Point: Post-manga canon
» Gender: Currently physically female/Mentally SUPER MANLY
» Age: 18
» Orientation: Straight as an arrow. The boy has "man amongst men or face ritual suicide" as a plot monkey on his back from his lovely and thoughtful parents. Even though he often easily caught crossdressing or even flirting with other men in canon, it's always to exploit their weaknesses or just outright humiliate them. In the end, as much as he may bitch and fight with her, he loves Akane Tendo and wants to have kids with her somewhere down the road.
» Personality: The Ranma 1/2 series is a general adventure/sexual comedy, and ends up being pretty formulamatic in its run of 38 volumes. Its most notorious trait lies in the fact that, though there is one favored couple in the series, there's no drastic or extremely dynamic changes--even in the end, Ranma and Akane go about their daily lives as on and off engaged people. Romance is less the emphasis and in return, situational comedy and bizarre over-the-top adventure is highly treasured.

Anyways, within the eye of that adventure is Ranma Saotome, son of lazy man/panda Genma Saotome, and heir to the Saotome School of Anything Goes martial arts. He was taught since he could walk in fighting, and became a prodigy with the objective of one day owning his own dojo and spread the teachings.

But that's that flowery part of it. The big truth would be that Genma is training Ranma to a point where the fat man could enjoy a lazy retirement. In fact, it's the sloth-like, scheming, greedy, and often idiotic nature of Genma that's responsible for turning Ranma into the person we see in the first volume. A cock-sure youth that is rough around the edges, tends not to bite his tongue often, and, though he loves the guy, is incredibly distrustful of his father's intents.

He's kind and friendly when not given a reason, though his idea of friendly often reverts to teasing. This is how he initially meets and begins to fall for Akane Tendo, daughter of Genma's best friend and training partner, who already owns a family dojo. The youngest daughter, she and Ranma have a rough but still positive start on their relationship--Ranma innocently thinking he's got a new friend, and Akane welcoming someone who seems to be as much of an advocate in martial arts as she is herself (even if she was the loser of their initial spar). Naivety drains moments later when Ranma realizes he hasn't been entirely honest with Akane, who at the time identifies Ranma fully as a girl. And the chance to come clean is snatched from him when she walks in on Ranma's girl form in the bath.

Ranma's resentful (he wouldn't have the girl!form were it not for her half-brained father--nevermind that Ranma willingly went with the man to China, as that's just a child's innocent love and trust for their parent...sort of) of the sudden and hostile attitude of Akane, who herself suffers from a hilariously big complex about boys and romantic situations. He turns defensive and mocking of Akane, a typical defensive mechanism for the boy. It gets him a table to his head. And he STILL has even more negative hurtful things to say about Akane after he wakes up. This becomes a staple for the remainder of the series (badmouth the tomboy, get verbally or physically--or both--slammed).

They're off to school the next day since Ranma's staying at her house for the duration, we then get to see other facets of his personality. A very chill, relaxed guy that has no problems doing mundane, day to day things, despite the fact that he's ridiculously strong, skilled, and swift (speaking in terms of chucking 4 ton weights at his opponents without obvious strain). He doesn't go out of his way to brag to others about himself, even if his ego's eccentric in its hugeness. The gloating on that level he leaves to Kuno, his first visualized rival for Akane's affections.

Kuno's delusional and jealous behavior has directly resulted in Akane literally fighting every school club boy and more than a few go-home club members every morning just to get to school. Ranma's in awe of this, re-evaluating her skill, and quickly takes a disliking to Kuno, who is placed into an annoying idiot status in Ranma's mind. Regardless, he follows through on his feelings for Akane (admitted-only-under-pain-of-death) and his ideal that a martial artist should help the people and quickly puts Kuno in his place. Though not without making a bad situation worse, as Kuno now wants Ranma's female form, not knowing that both "she" and Ranma are the same person (something Akane's older sister, Nabiki, frequently capitalizes on in her pranks against Ranma).

The encounter with Kuno also completes the odd love/hate/tolerate situation with Ranma and Akane. It's painfully obvious to everyone save themselves that they care a great deal for one another. They'll come to verbal blows time and again, staunchly deny it to family, friend, enemy, and each other. But count on Ranma to come bail Akane out of a jam, or vice versa, no questions asked. They end up thoughtlessly sacrificing much for one another, from personal items to even repeatedly a cure for Ranma's curse that turns him into a girl, and Akane's own life on two occasions.

Not to say that Akane is the only one who gets a level of devotion. Ranma is actually a very forgiving and easy fellow who seldom considers himself to have enemies, even if the enemies swear such up and down until they're blue in the face. Ryoga Hibiki, who suffers from a curse similar to Ranma, wants to see him dead. But the two do passably get along when they're not coming to blows, or Ranma taking gross advantage of Ryoga's unbelievable naivety. He considers Ryoga a friend, despite the pain, humiliation, and annoyances he's caused Ranma over time. And he also considers the boy a suitable rival, as no other person in the series pushes Ranma to improve his art so much as Ryoga has--the results being some of the deadliest moves in Saotome's arsenal are strictly thanks to the fan-dubbed Eternal Lost Boy. And they are, more or less, rivals in affection for Akane, as Ryoga has a massive crush on the girl, to a point of tricking her by posing as her pet "pig" (his cursed form) and sleeping in her bed every night. Ranma hates it utterly, but has not once told Akane the truth about "P-chan". He's even helped Ryoga on more than one occasion, being sure the boy who can literally get lost in a hallway closet makes it to school in a timely manner, to even helping him get his own girlfriend later in the series, Akari Unryuu.

Even Mousse, who has even MORE reason to loathe Saotome and LESS reason to consider him as nothing more than an obstacle, get treated as a pal--if consistent annoyance. After all, Ranma has stolen the heart of his beloved in Mousse's eyes, so the Amazon boy has gone out of his way on more than a few occasions to ensure Ranma's life is hell. And they're still on good speaking terms (not as good as Ryoga's, but again, Ranma's a friendly type).

Which gets into the other crux of Ranma's life: how he folds around women. Either out of his own fault or because of his father, Ranma has several suitors and more than a handful of admirers. Each dreams of being his bride, each is insanely possessive, and all work in total to take gross advantage of Ranma's innocent and naïve way he treats girls. It's a fixed set, that he can readily tease any girl and behave normally around them, but any favor they require, any help they need, they can typically corner Ranma into doing. The fiancée brigade, on the other hand, take the to the extreme, forcing Ranma to constantly run from their advances out of a worry that one of them really WILL make a critical break in the race of love, and end up his unfortunate victor.

Ukyo Kuonji, as an example, is a childhood friend of Ranma's, and also is the one that's crushed on him the longest. Initially, she reintroduces herself as a woman scorned and out for Ranma's head (his father's fault), and when it was finally explained to the Saotome boy--who had spent all the time until this reappearance thinking Ukyo was a "boy", he more or less gave her permission to do what she needed to square their debt. She instead settled on reclaiming her position as his (arguably oldest) fiancée. She is one that he still treats as a bud and often fights to forget that she has hots for him, but Ukyo is often one to remind him through attempted seduction, an outright fight with her rival suitors, or attempts to sabotage said suitors, that she takes being his betrothed quite seriously, much to his chagrin.

Shampoo, another suitor, is directly Ranma's fault and another case of gender confusion. She's an Amazon out of China, from the same tribe as Mousse, and is in fact the focus of his romantic infatuation. Ranma, a girl at the time, defeated Shampoo in fair combat, and because she was an outsider to the village, Shampoo was sworn to hunt and kill girl!Ranma. Which obviously aggravated and terrorized Ranma for some time. Then the truth came out, and Shampoo after some punishments from her tribe decided to outright pursue Ranma as her rightful husband (by technicality, they're already married. Complicated plot point). Her brash, tricky, ruthless actions often unnerve Ranma, particularly as Shampoo repeatedly shows she has no qualms whatsoever inflicting permanent damage to the rest of her rivals, but he still considers her something of a friend to rely on and help out, even if she constantly tries to turn a bad situation into an advantageous one.

Kodachi Kuno, sister to the aforementioned Kuno who delusionally chases Akane and Ranma's female form, has gone head-over-heels in love with Ranma, and has resorted to trickery and underhanded tactics time and again to gain his presence (affection is a far ways off--delusions on affection run deep in the Kuno family. Ranma never seems to stick around long enough to GIVE Kodachi a chance to better their relationship, and more often than not ends up counter-scheming to get ahead of her, or to help her out without becoming her unwitting boyfriend. To make matters worse, she, like her brother, don't know that boy and girl Ranma are the same--she adores male Ranma, but hates and discounts female Ranma as a Jezebel out to steal her man.

All of these people constantly bring lethal amounts of chaos into Ranma's life, but it's seldom that he backs away from their advances. Inside, despite his hard tongue that seldom bites itself, the boy is a fair kid with a good sense of justice and honor. He can indeed be as petty as the people around him, though not to their level, and his mouth gets him in a lot of trouble, positive and negative. He's got quite the ego, though he doesn't brag, he has a unbelievably strong inclination against losing ANY kind of competition or fight, and will work any angle he can get to overcome the opponent in a rematch. And his teasing has gone too far one more than fifteen occasions.

Yet and still, he's an even, upbeat kid who seldom allows depression or bad tidings rule his day. He'll mope, he'll find a way out of his jam, and then he'll go about his day--unless the method of leaving was excessively hard or ridiculous, at which point see what was mentioned about holding grudges. Regardless, Ranma considers himself fair and likable, even good-looking--traits only Akane Tendo would immediately disagree with for reasons obvious to the two of them and anyone else onlooking.
» Appearance: Short. As in stark contrast to his male body, girl Ranma piques at 4'11". Not only that, but she counts as incredibly petite for her size, and healthy in the chest department, giving an overall buxom, energetic look. Ranma's typically black hair is now bright fire-red, and her eyes are clear blue. Usually favors male Chinese tangs (red) and muscle shirts, and kung fu slacks with matching slippers (Obviously not designed for her). Favors arm bands or wrist warmers while a girl for the sake of not that much forearm to protect.

*There's heavy laughter. And, much like the furniture sounds, it too is broken.*

» "amatomneslogs" Entry: The problem with nightmares as people found it were two-fold. They never really ended, once they began in one's lifetime. And when a person found a way to cope with one aspect of the fears presented in the dark dream, the subconscious typically found a way to reintroduce a new view of an old horror. Ranma Saotome's nightmares stemmed deeply in the realm of his sexuality.

Previously, those fears had reached some amazing new heights as a result of an unwanted and perilous journey into the realms of the female body. Just for the sake of breathing, he'd come to know other girls, and in turn they taught him a bit about them. And, naturally, his experience in just WHY knowing them so well was a bad idea grew in turn, leading him to be just a bit more careful around women, to a point of even frightening his fiancée, Akane Tendo. Their harsh, barbed relationship of thorns and good feelings turned into the Saotome boy walking eggshells around the girl and not being as quick to insult her. And after that landed him in the hospital, he surmised it was safe to treat Akane as the tomboy once again. Just that she was now a tomboy with possible, scantly-occasional benefits.

That plateau reached, his nightmares had indeed stopped for the while. But there were exceptions--Ranma evolved, so of course his psyche had to catch up.

This time, it started out as an itch. Not any itch that he could recall ever experiencing in his near two decades of life. It was annoying, but weirdly enough, not unwelcome. Once his hand reached to scratch, he quickly figured out WHY--because HER body was the one under fuss, and not HIS. Part and par for course, when one was cursed with a female body half the time with a simple splash of water. It wasn't an ordinary itch--it got worse the more he--she--tried to rub at it. It soon became an ache that called for attention of more than just one finger or two.

And then more than nails or even rubbing. The Saotome boy-turned-girl groaned in frustration as she continued to attack the annoyance that was quickly becoming not so much an annoyance as an anxiety. After all, it was building...tension. Not a familiar tension in a sense--the faster heartbeat he certainly knew about, as well as the uncontrolled breathing. But the coiling, fluttering sensation all about her abdomen, seeming to slowly run through her limbs and tips of her fingers and even toes was foreign. It was because it was a foreign sensation that Ranma redoubled his efforts toward his smaller and slimmer female body. Particularly when the itching seemed to spread with the tension to more than one spot. What began near her legs had now encompassed her abdomen and sides, even her chest.

All she could think was how peachy it'd be if this twisting, teasing, encompassing pleasure could just go away. It didn't occur to Ranma anymore to try and think of other subjects or people, or even to stop feeding the impulse. The feeling had already quickly come upon and surpassed unbearable. She wanted relief, she wanted it gone, she--

Gasped and braced herself. There was a pressure, stretching that was utterly foreign to her. Just at the middle of her hips, a stretching and painful invasion that made the small girl's back taught and bent in the likeness of a bow. The aching had become something akin to electric shocks up her spine, core in her belly and traveling everywhere from there. The more the pressure invaded, the stronger the pulses got. At a point, Ranma again found herself gulping for air. And it was the point where her lips, licked by her own unconscious movement, parted her legs as if to course this pressure along faster. And her mouth began to form a plea similar in intent just before her brain, already steaming from all the new input, put logic in order and properly deciphered the possible identity of the intruder who was poised over her small body and pushing into a place that definitely nothing should be going INto--

"NO!"

The redhead jumped up with eyes mixed in horror and surrender. A man had--that was definitely a man that had--she looked around sharply for the man that was certainly going to get a beating and half before Ranma got really into taking her pound of flesh out the entity for his grievous sin...but there was no one. No witnesses answered her call for blood, just the soft bed and crisp wind blowing through the canopy. A canopy that shouldn't have been there....

Owlishly, Ranma blinked, pulse still heightened but more for a sense of adrenaline than a release. Her mind caught up to itself, and she pushed her body out of the bed. Sweat-soaked, naked, and hot--three states she definitely did not desire to be. But more important was ascertaining just what this place was. Not once could she ever recall sleeping luxurious, so the canopy king bed with its silk sheets were not welcome. Further, though there was no one else in the room, the small martial artists couldn't shake the sense of fear settling in her belly. It was luxurious, but she knew this place. She knew it too well, even if the memory itself was faint...something to do with coffee and a sizable headache....

Her bare feet padded to the washroom and she took quick use of the hot water in the basin, thinking cold was a waste for someone wide awake from a ridiculous and hateful dream. That was, of course, when the scene all fell into place for Ranma. The hateful dream that was a bit too graphic, and the setting. The Greco-Roman setting right down to the sink, and the utter wrongness of it all. Atia--was the name of the anxiety that had started in Ranma's sleeping world and continued up until that very second that her clear blue eyes continued to stare at her in the mirror.

HER eyes. Eyes that began to see red. A red that forced her hand through the marble basin, splitting stone and bending pipe, splashing water all about her feet. She lost it--this nightmare was supposed to have been beaten. But apparently it learned, adapted, and grew.

How unfortunate, Ranma's mind thought, her body far too occupied with it's temper tantrum.
