Have you tried one of those gel covers you can slip over the seat? I used one of those on the bike I rode in high school, and I remember it being pretty comfy.
I was worried about the same thing after having to sit on my arse for a month after Snowmageddon buried the bike trails around here - but apparently nearly three and a half year of constant riding having given me Iron Buttocks. That, or killed all the relevant nerves.
i did not know such things existed! i will order one promptly. thanks for the recommendation.
i'm glad your butt is still up to the task. the thought of nerve-murder is always slightly horrifying though.
also, you clearly rode through more of the winter than i did. i gave up mid-december b/c of the cold. what do you normally wear when you're biking in the winter? i'd like to be more hardcore but i had to admit to myself this year that i really just did not have the appropriate gear.
hrm. maybe it just doesn't get as cold there, which i would find mind boggling. i'm ok down to about 30F, though it's cold & i do still need better gloves, but my main problem was that it'd not be above freezing for weeks on end. 10s-20s with wind chills below even that of course. i do have a horrifyingly pink biking jacket which is fleecy on the inside and pretty good but even with 3 shirts underneath, it still just doesn't cut it below freezing. this may also be partially due to the fact that my ride is only 2.5mi one leg and with lots of traffic lights so it's tough to even get fully warm in that amount of time. or maybe it's just i'm a pansy & i really hate the cold. ;)

I'm glad you're doing well and able to get some riding done. Ideally I'll buy another bike when i find a place it doesn't get stolen after 2 days.
