Sunday featured another session in
lathany's Athory campaign, and the good news is, no PCs got assassinated! Having not myself maintained a running commentary on this game, I suspect that it would be a lot of work to start one now, and besides, anyone who might read this will have access to the other writeups as well. But, suffice to say, we met someone who, despite a couple of important character flaws, just might have been reasonable enough to work with and actually resolve some of the many problems that afflict the land. And then Danaeus (
bateleur) killed him.
Taronus (
chrisvenus) seemed pretty traumatised. Bryanna (
quisalan) may possibly be less trusting of others now... Finch (
chrestomancy) was stoic, and Roland... Well, Roland seems to have become yet more bitter and cynical. On the one hand, the party was betrayed by one of its own, and a serious crime was committed - But on the other hand, Roland himself was a bit concerned by the behaviour of the individual in question, and his demise may yet have delivered the (possibly) horrifyingly powerful Royal Jewels into the hands of the PCs, or at least their allies... And Roland himself has been contemplating the possibility of getting hold of them for some time. Contrary to popular speculation, he's not really a power-crazed megalomaniac or anything - But he is near-fanatically loyal to the Kingdom of Lathany. Death doesn't freak him out the way it does some of the others, it's just part of life to him now. He is seventeen going on forty-five, and has Issues. I also suspect he's now a little paranoid. Needless to say, his mental state has now entirely escaped my control...
I rarely play characters quite that screwed up, but sometimes these things just happen! :)
