Some comments on games for the Wii.

So far, I've played quite a few games on the Nintendo Wii. They vary widely in quality and fun.

Wii Sports, while coming bundled with the Wii, is actually quite fun (although, for some reason, it appears very easy to develop systematic "curl" to left or right with the Bowling). Usefully, it adapts its difficulty to your measured skill, which means ( Read more... )

I don't know about the fencing game in question, but I've noticed that in a lot of games that involve swordsmanship and have a block/parry option as well as the ability to move around, you're better off taking that technique. The block/parry option always seems to require getting your timing just perfect, which can be hard to pick when dealing with computer graphics (especially if it's a third-person view).

You too could have a Wii, Andy. They're not that expensive, and they're not as rare as hen's teeth any more, either.

Well having discovered 200 quid that I had forgotten I had the other week I was considering picking one up. However, locating one in Sheffield is not that simple it would seem.

What would you recommend to get for it?

Hrm. Well, Wii Sports comes with it, and is the game I've played most out of everything we own.

Super Mario Galaxy is a genuinely great 3d platform game, so if you can put up with the player character being Mario (personally, he irritates the heck out of me), that'd be a good choice.

I quite like what I've played of Mercury Meltdown Revolutions, too. But, then, I like puzzle games so...

What do you like in computer games, anyway?
