Isn't that what Todd McFarlane did? got pissed, left marvel and started his own... did it with his toys too... didn't like what mattel did so he fired them and started his own toy company.

Thanks for the replies guys, I will try somewhere else as well.
And Todd 'kind of' self published, but not until after working with Marvel on X-Force and Spiderman, giving him quite a bit of exp before going off on his own thing...
I'm at the 'want exp. with a company' stage.
