Resumés = evilness

I say this only because the one resumé that I kept on my computer, I deleted, because I didn't think that I'd ever need it again. Hah, well, silly me. So I had to start all over again on it. Which in itself isn't a problem. The problem would be remembering what the Hell is needed on the damnable things. I've got my name (obviously) and contact ( Read more... )

I can give you a sample resume, if you'd like. My best advice to you is to be honest. Do not necessary worry about telling them what you think they want to hear, especially if it means lying. But at the same time... GE as an organization is extremely focused on finding people who will fit with their corporate culture. They will not hire someone who does not espouse their corporate values. So first thing... go to the company website, do your homework, and go to the interview prepared.

As for the job... fuck Wally World. GE is a far superior organization. What type of position is it? At the management level, GE is pretty cutthroat. But it sounds like you will be going for a line position, by the hourly pay. Hopefully people are nicer at that level. Bottom line... having GE on your resume is better than Wally World.

A sample would be quite lovely, actually. :p

As for position, the guy said it was like customer services. He sent me an email last night with a slightly detailed description of the job. *Pointpoints below*

"Serve as the primary customer contact point for the dealer portfolio. Provide real-time resolution for inquiries received via phone or other media (faxes, emails, echats). Ensure timely delivery of decision notification. Document customer accounts on every contact to build the communication bridge across the organization. Work with the Research teams on closing the loop to build a seamless customer service experience for our dealers.
Behavior Characteristics:
Personable
Outgoing
Detail Oriented with follow thru"

And I agree, GE on my resumé is going to look a whole lot more impressive than Wal*Mart. Though frankly at this point, I'm of the mindset of "a job is a job is a job". Doesn't mean that I'm not hoping with all my might that I get this job at GE. :p

Goodluck on the resume. Just search on Google. You should find something there. I have mine on my website if you need more examples.
