“I’m back!” Tegoshi chirped as he entered the room. “I’ve brought some fruits and fresh flowers for you.” He put the basket of fruits and arranged the flowers onto the empty vase.

His eyebrows creased a little as he saw the bed empty.  “Massu?”

“Massu? Where are you?” He called out.

“I’m here, Tesshi.” Massu answered from the bathroom.

He quickly went to the bathroom and opened the door. He saw Massu, on his casual clothes, combing his hair, smiling at him.

“How do I look?” Massu asked as he stops combing his hair.

But he got no reply.

“Tesshi? How do I look?”

“Gorgeous…” Tegoshi blurted out of nowhere.

Massu grinned. “I can tell, you’re staring at me like some-”

Massu didn’t finished what he is supposed to say when Tegoshi smacked his head, hard.

“Ouch! Tesshi, why did you do that?”

But he only received a cute pout from his boyfriend.

Massu tried to stifle a laugh. “What’s with that pout?”

“I missed you…”

Massu looked at him, confused.

“What?”

“I said I missed you.

“Missed me? We’re always together, Tesshi.”

“I know. It’s not like that…” He bit his lips. “I mean…” He played with the hem of his shirt. “What I mean is that… I missed you wearing those kind of clothes. It’s- It’s been a year since the last time I saw you wear something not…plain.”

Massu smiled. He went closer to Tegoshi and patted his head. “I missed wearing my own clothes too. They’re so comfortable. And also, wearing too plain clothes isn’t just like me, is it?”

Tegoshi nodded. “Yeah.”

Massu leans and kisses Tegoshi on the forehead. “Let’s go out.”

Tegoshi’s eyes went dramatically wide. “Eh?”

“Let’s go outside. Let’s go on a date?”

“DATE?!”

Massu just nodded.

“Date? With your condi-” Massu silenced him with a kiss, the kiss he never experienced for almost a year, soft and deep.

“I can manage,” He said with a wink. “So, let’s go?”

Tegoshi smiles slowly. “Okay, but!” He went to his bag to get something.

He gives him a sunglass. “Wear this.”

“This?”

“Yes, so no one will notice you.”

“How do I look?”

“Handsome as always.” And he pulled Massu’s hands, guiding him outside the room.

They made it out of the hospital without making a scene. Tegoshi went immediately to his car and opened the door to the passenger’s seat, helping Massu get a comfortable seat.

“Thanks.”

“Yeah, sure.” And he closed the door, running to the other side of the car and went inside his car and started the engine.

“Let’s go?”

“Yes!”

And they went out of the vicinity of the hospital.

~

“Where’d you want to go, Massu?” Tegoshi asked at the same time holding Massu’s hand.

“Hmm… a peaceful one is okay.”

Tegoshi hums. “Okay, I’ll bring you there.”

~

“Uwaaaaah!”

“Did you like it?”

Massu nodded excitedly. “Yes. Very much!” And he sprinted down going to the shore.

“Massu, be careful!!” Tegoshi shouted at the top of his lungs.

“I know, but the scenery’s just- Aaah!” He screamed as he fell down, face landed first on the rough sand.

“Massu!!!” He ran quickly to Massu. “Massu! Massu! Are you alright? Massu!?”

“Ouch, that hurts.” Massu cursed to himself as he touched his face.

“I told you to be careful! Please listen to me, Massu! You’re such a kid!”

Massu bit his lip. “I’m sorry.”

Tegoshi hugged him. “That’s okay. That’s okay, Massu.”

“Are you angry with me?”

Tegoshi laughs softly. “No, I’m not. I’m just…worried to death. You know what your condition is, right? I don’t want you to run recklessly like a kid. It’ll cause me so much pain if something bad happened to you.”

Massu hugged Tegoshi back. “I know that. You love me, right? You love me that it causes you so much pain when I’m hurt.”

“Yes, I love you.”

Massu just smiled.

“ Let’s lay down.” Massu says.

“Okay.”

They lay down to the sand together, hugging each other. They watched as the sun sets, giving a bright red-orange color to the immense sky.

“It’s pretty, right?” Tegoshi asked, caressing Massu’s back.

“Yeah, it is. Just like you.”

Tegoshi chuckled. “I’m a guy, Massu.”

“But it’s true, you really are pretty. You’re beautiful… just like the setting sun…”

“Thanks.”

The warm breeze suddenly passed them, and a comforting silence enveloped the two of them.

“Yuya…?” Massu mumbles.

“What is it, Massu?”

“How will you spend my last day with me?” He asked, voice low and barely audible.

Tegoshi stopped caressing Massu’s back.

Tegoshi laughed uncomfortably. “Why ask such things, Massu?” He asked back, shaking voice very obvious.

“I just want to know.”

“I don’t want to answer that question of yours, Massu. Not now.”

“Please.”

“No.”

“Tesshi…” His voice pleading and it made Tegoshi sigh.

“Hug you, kiss you, beg you to stay with me.”

“You’ll beg a dying person to stay with you?”

“Massu…”

“Tell me your answer.”

“I already told you. I want to hug you, kiss you, I’ll…”

“You what?”

“Massu, let’s stop, please.”

“I want to know your answers.”

Tegoshi got up. “I just want to be with you. I want to be the person at your side when you…when you decide it’s time to say goodbye.” He tried to not to sob, but when Massu got up and hugged Tegoshi, he gave in.

“Massu…” He cried. “I don’t want you to die. I don’t want you to leave me. Please…Please stay, stay with me, forever. Please…”

Massu smiled. “I can grant the first ones you’ve told me. I will hug you, I’ll kiss you…but to stay with you, it’s…it’s impossible now, Tesshi.”

“No! Stay with me! You’re strong, right? You promised me you’ll never leave me, right? You told me that will marry each other and have some kids, right? You promised me we’ll have a big, happy family! You remembered it all, right!? You told me that! You promised me that! Please don’t break it!”

“But promises are meant to be broken,Tesshi.”

He sniffed. “Massu…If I could only…” He cried. “Why? Why of all people, why? Why did he choose you?”

“I don’t know either.”

“Please, don’t give up, not now…”

“Maybe it’s time for me to go now, Tesshi. I’ve been fighting almost half of my life with this illness. And every day that has passed, my body gets weaker and weaker. I’m tired, Tesshi...”

“No…no…no, Massu!”

“And I’m also tired of watching you cry because of me. I just can’t take it. My baby’s crying because of me.”

“It’s worth crying when it’s you… I love you very much, Massu. I love you very much…”

Massu hugged him tight, declaring words of love in a whispered act. Tegoshi just nodded, he just can’t talk right now, he’s just incoherent, too carried away by the emotions overflowing in his heart.

“Tesshi, look at me.”

Tegoshi held his head high, and he received a loving and sweet kiss from Massu, a heart- warming kiss; a kiss penetrating down his soul. He clings to Massu’s neck, and Massu guided him back to the sand, hungrily kissing him.

“Massu,” he uttered between kisses, “Take me now, take me while you still can.”

Massu doesn’t answer, but granted Tegoshi’s request. They made love that night, exploring each other’s body, feeling each other’s warm, remembering every delicate parts of each other’s body. They made love until they’re tired, until all they can do is to hug each other and share body’s warmth.

~

“Thanks, Massu.”

“For what?”

“For last night…” Tegoshi said shyly.

“If it is for you…” He entwined his own hands with Tegoshi’s and kissed it. “I love you,  Tesshi.”

“I love you more, Massu.”

~

“At last, we’re back.” Massu said as Tegoshi helped him lay his back on the hospital bed.

Tegoshi laughed. “You’re the only person I know who’s happy to go back to the hospital, you know.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

Massu closed his eyes. “Ah, so tired.”

“Then go rest for while.”

“Hmm… I really can’t believe no one noticed us when we went out yesterday.”

“Nah, they’re busy with their own lives and works.”

“Hmm… Yuya…”

“What is-” Yuya?

“I want to sleep. I’m so…tired…right now…”

“I told you earlier, didn’t I? It’s okay, go to sleep, but open your eyes later, alright? Don’t die…” He doesn’t understand it, the weird feeling overflowing his heart, “D-don’t leave me, Massu…”

“I love you so much, Yuya…I love you…forever…”

Yuya? Yuya... And Tegoshi realized something…

“Yuya…”

“Eh? Massu?”

“I’ll call you in your given name when the time comes…”

Tegoshi doesn’t understand what Massu told him at first but slowly…

“I’ll be happy when you do that. You never call me by my given name ever since we’ve met, instead  you’ve given me strange name”

“You’ve given me strange name also, so we’re quits.”

“Massu…” Tegoshi mumbled as he slowly went to Massu’s side.

But he got no reply.

“Massu…Massu…” And he held Massu’s hand and kissed it.

“T-Taka…Takahisa…”

“Tesshi?”

“Hmm?”

“Please make my last wish come true…”

“Eh? What is it? Tell me and I’ll do it.”

“Call me by my given name, okay?”

“Huh?”

“I didn’t hear you call me by my given name either Ever since..”

“Hmm, so you want me to call you Takahisa?”

“Yeah…”

“Okay. Hm…Takahisa…Takahisa…Takahisa…Takahisa.”

“Stop that-”

“Takahisa, Takahisa, Takahisa…”

“You’re such a stubborn boyfriend,” Massu laughed. “I said stop that.”

“But you told me you want me to call you Takahisa, right? I’m just granting your wish. Takahisa, Taka-”

“I want to hear your voice when it comes.”

Tegoshi stopped.

“I want you voice to be the last one I’ll hear before I die.”

Tegoshi gulped, trying his best not to sob. “S-sure, if that’s what Massu’s wish…”

“Takahisa…Taka…” He got up and hugged Massu. “Taka, can you hear me? I’m calling you Takahisa now…Taka….Taka!”

He pulled himself away from Massu, caressed his pale face and kissed his pale lips.

“I love you too, Takahisa… I love you too…”

And he rested his forehead to Massu’s. Tegoshi doesn’t even notice a tear escaped from Massu’s closed eyes.

“Thank you, Yuya. Thank you for making my wish come true…”

“Farewell, Yuya…”
