I'm going to post on this thing if it kills me
I just realized, I don't write about what's going on in my life much. I'm going to try from now on. Why not? I've never been good at journaling, I don't know what to say, but I guess it won't get better without practice. Plus, virtually no one is watching so there's no pressure. :)
life stuff:
This summer, I've been working at my mom's frozen yogurt place. She's stressed out. understatement I wish I could do more to help out but it looks like when you are barely making enough money to keep going and pay your major bills no amount of obnoxious cheerfulness and/or solicitation from other family members will make you feel better. On the other hand, she is technically getting by, and it's a nice shop with a nice atmosphere that I think she's really proud of, and she has customers who really like the place.
I've now worked 2 part time jobs, even though one is for my mom, and feel like less of a horrible person who can't work, thank goodness. I was scared of working for a long time because I have social anxiety and I didn't want to have to talk to people for three hours straight, but I'm so glad I got a job, because when I didn't have one I felt like a complete loser and couldn't respect myself at all! I feel tons better now. Also, money is nice, haha.
Also I'm reading an awesome book (Walt Stanchfield, Drawn to Life) and I found a great blog entry with tips for aspiring pro artists on Darthmongoose's DA:

It was really motivating to read this and makes me feel better about approaching the art industry, and I think the advice is really solid as well. Recommended light reading to anyone for whom illustration or any other creative career is a goal. :)

-LA Noire. I don't know how, I don't own the console, doesn't matter, I am going to play this. It looks amazing, and I am so excited for the animation process they used which is so nuanced and awesome and is going to make for some really cool gameplay:
It's also going to make a large chunk of us animators obsolete, so maybe I shouldn't be so happy, but isn't this cool?
