Paint Nites 26-28: Angel, Rose and Celtic tree

Mar 18, 2021 20:57

I did two Paint Nites in January that I never posted about, plus a third one last weekend. I'm doing another one this coming weekend, but before this gets even more ridiculously photo-heavy, let me at least do these first three ( Read more... )

I really do think that the virtual paint nites have been a really *good* thing to come out of this pandemic - I can't imagine that they would have been pushed to do this without it, but the fact that within a couple of months after starting virtual events, they were saying "these are not going away after we start back with in-person events" - makes it clear that people have embraced them ( ... )

The Celtic tree teacher's name is Amy Young, from Idaho. Like I said, she was very sweet, but her sense of pacing and level of instruction was way off. She did try to check in, saying she didn't want anyone to get to the end and not have had any fun, so to speak up if there were issues but just ... yeah, I don't think I'll try her again.

The rose teacher was Ne-Col Simon.

I'm glad you liked my angel! I liked making her something other than a white blonde. ;-)

Wow, you look at dates WAAAY further ahead than I do. I look about 2 weeks ahead and leave it at that. I'll see about the black and white rose with Yulia once May rolls around - it should be between my spring and summer terms so I should have some time!

Oh I haven't done any paintings with Amy Young. I actually had a class with Ne-Col - my red cardinals on the branch winter painting was with her - I thought she did a reasonable job for that painting. But the rose is ...a lot more complicated!

Hah - I look at EVERYTHING. Yulia posts stuff out months in advance - this is definitely her full time job!

I liked my previous class with Ne-Col (the Polynesian dancer) just fine. She just wasn't quite as forthcoming with instructions for this, alas.

I like all three, but especially the Celtic knot tree -- what a cool composition, and your rendition looks really nice! And I like the changes you made the the angel picture -- I like your color scheme better for sure!

To be honest, the original angel painting reminded me of vocal chords so I liked yours much better!
