Well, being as how he's a stalker, the natural thing to do here would be the stalk. And because this man desperately needs a bell and he is used to a younger Buffy who can't sense him when he spots her from a distance (because he's on the roof of some convenient nearby tall building because hey, that's what we do at night) he drops down (silently) and then (silently) goes to get behind her so he can (silently) follow her. Quickly too.

[ somewhere in the middle of a mental recitation of a disco classic, buffy stops dead. huh. perhaps this dud is actually a non-dud. she grips the stake in a more business-like fashion and scrutinizes the road ahead -- nothing? then the fangs must be behind.

[Did she notice him somehow? No, she never notices him, so how would that have changed? But you know, now that he's closer... there's other differences. Her hair is different, she looks a little bit more like Joyce older, she's carrying herself differently... Well there's a long list of Very Odd Things here, but the smell is undeniably Buffy.
Thus, coming out quickly to her side, he decides to make his presence known in the form of a single word in his quiet voice-]
