(Tentative) 2013 TBR Book Pile

Oct 06, 2012 19:58

It's a little bit too early to prepare this but since I'm obviously looking for an excuse to procrastinate (and tumblr was down earlier), so why not. I'll be taking one of those online reading challenges next year, mostly because I just want to cut down the To-Be-Read book pile in my room (which will expand massively in December after I return from ( Read more... )

You can do it! :) I need one of these lists too, I have so many unread books and I keep buying more. Especially when there are sales, when books are going for something like $2, in which case buying is absolutely justified. (My mum disagrees though.)

I really enjoyed The Woman Warrior, after reading it for a class on Asian American literature. Really poignant stories, and the style is elegant. Been meaning to read Kafka on the Shore as well, as part of an ongoing challenge in understanding Murakami. I'll be cheering you on while tackling my own pile of books ♥

Let's do this together and we can cheer on each other! Though I'm sure you are a faster reader than I am. ;) And same here, I will probably end up buying a lot more books next year but I hope to at least clear off some of the unread books with this list. And yes! I mean, it's such a waste to not to buy during book sales (the cheapest for me is about $3 at the upcoming year-end sale). Who knows if we'll ever need those books, y/y ( ... )

Nope, I'm terribly slow, what with tumblr and LJ and all sorts of other distractions. And then there's school, haha. Sales are really hard to resist! I went for a library used book sale, that's where the books were all $2 unless otherwise stated. And even then I think I saw nothing higher than $5? There were so many people! I didn't know Singaporeans liked to read so much :P These books are treasures, man. They'll always be needed ( ... )

But you do so well with distractions... well, better than me anyway. But yes, school. The biggest time consumer! Don't get me wrong, we read a lot for school, it's just... not what we always want to read. I find it almost impossible to resist book sales or bargain bins, and because of the cheap prices, I sometimes end up with books that I'm not even sure I want to read. Reading habits are pretty terrible in my country so I'm generally surprised to find a crowd in bookstores. Have I told you that I tend to run into a bookstore to avoid a large crowd during weekends at the shopping malls? XD But yes, books are treasures. *nods ( ... )

I have it for quite a while now but since it covers different fandoms from my LJ ones so I didn't think to share. :3 I don't want to clog your dashboard with stuff that might not interest you.

Oh, really? *pushes it up the reading list* I've read the summary and flipped through bits of it but now you've made me want to read it asap. XD No, I shall resist and wait till 2013!

fffff like I care, half my dash at any given time is fandoms I don't care about! :P It interests me to see what my friends are into, and we've barely gotten to talk lately!

Resist the uuuuuuuurge.

> You fail to resist the urge. It was a good try, though.

Still, I don't want to clog up your dash unnecessarily. And seriously, you are not missing that much, especially not when classes has just started again for me. ;A:

Well, for me, I had to read up the summary to know what sort of book I'm buying. :P But for you, it's one of the recommended/compulsory texts that you read in school, right?

Haha, I'm hoping to complete them by next year. Hopefully it'll happen. ;) They've spent too much time on the shelf.

We must do something about it. XD What fandom are you into these days?

That's good to hear. For me, life has been busy, not necessarily eventful but definitely busy. :)

Ah, I'm still partial to physical books. I only ever read e-books on my phone when it is dark and I don't have a book in hand. :P
