[Log] Tezuka & Eiji

Rating: G
When: Last Saturday evening
Where: Between the Kiva studio and the apartments
Summary: Tezuka confession time. Too bad Eiji gets broken in the process.

Tezuka glanced over at where Eiji stood, gathering his belongings. Clearing his throat, Tezuka slowly walked over. “Ready to go?” He asked, trying to keep the smile off his face. He’d had a good lunch with Oishi earlier. One that had led to Tezuka deciding to do this and do it soon. Soon meaning before they reached the SevenLines building. He had a feeling that if he didn’t say something soon, he never would. And that would be a shame, now wouldn’t it?

“Eh?” Eiji grinned back up at Tezuka and nodded. When did it get so late anyway? He picked up his bag and stretched with a loud groan. The redhead always promised he would get home early but then this or what always came up and then he’d end up leaving at the same time anyway. Script changes and memorizing last minute lines. Recording the same scene over and over again. Who would have thought that in the first episode he’d already have to get (mostly) naked and sit in a bathtub for a scene until he got it right. “I still don’t know why you come to all the taping sessions. You’re not even in these first few episodes nya~”

“Because I have sparring practices during this time in the next building,” Tezuka reminded the redhead. “Besides, the breaks are good times to go over lines with everyone else.” And if he managed to pick up a cute redhead on his way home, well, that was only a plus. “Want to skip getting food tonight?” His lunch had been kind of late and he wasn’t particularly hungry right now.

There was a long pause as Eiji thought about the skipping food part of the night. Well, they had been eating out a lot recently so it was good to eat at home once in a while. He nodded slowly after a moment and turned towards the door to head out. “Are they still beating you black and blue?” He laughed teasinly, giving Tezuka a poke in the arm. And after all, if he really wanted to eat, he could always ask Oishi to go out with him once he got home. If anything, there was that cafe downstairs but it’d be nice to go out somewhere too.

Tezuka followed Eiji, raising an eyebrow at the poke. “Shouldn’t you be worried about your own sparring practices?” After all, Tezuka wasn’t the only one who was in them. Everyone who had fighting scenes had the things. “But no, I’m no longer black and blue.”

“Heh heeeeh~” hands proudly on his hips as Eiji grinned towards Tezuka with the cheekiest smile he could muster. “You heard last time, the coach said that I was a natural at that choreography!” Years of acrobatics training on the tennis court had helped out somewhatly. And it was amusing to the rest of the class to see the teacher trip Eiji up whenever he got too overconfident. “Well, at least you’re not anymore. If you were, I’d make you come up and see Oishi tonight. He found this stuff...that makes all the aches to away!~” Whether it was the medicine that he sprayed on or the hugs he gave afterwards that actually did that, Eiji wasn’t quite sure.

Speaking of Oishi. “You know,” Tezuka started, “I had lunch with him today.” And a very good lunch it had been. He didn’t get to see his friend all that often due to their schedules never seeming to line up and leave any free time to hang out. “We had an interesting talk.”

Blue eyes widened in surprise as the talk of Oishi caught his attention. He turned around, walking backwards with his hands behind his head and his bag dangling from his hands. “Interesting...?” He grinned a little and stuck his tongue out at Tezuka. “Don’t the two of you just talk about tennis and homework? That can’t be very interesting at all nya~” He shook his head slightly, pushing backwards on the handle the door and letting them both out into the nice evening air.

Tezuka fought the urge to stick his tongue out back at Eiji. “He was actually giving me some advice.” Tezuka took a deep breath and continued, “love advice, to be honest.” Again. Now that he thought about it, Tezuka had gone to Oishi for advice on what to do with Kaidoh and that whole messy situation as well.

“Love advice?!” Eiji burst out laughing and turned away from Tezuka to follow his path home with big childish strides. “Nya~ Kaidoh’s already confessed to you ages ago and you’re only now asking for advice.” He peeked back at Tezuka for a moment before his eyes flicked back forwards and he tipped his head thoughtfully for a moment. That’s even slower than Oishi... He laughed a little to himself at the idea. The vice captain had taken long enough, the idea that the captain took even longer was even more amusing.

Tezuka shook his head. “The situation with Kaidoh...that,” he sighed, “that was settled a little while ago.” And things between the two of them were still awkward. The thought and reminder of how things went with Kaidoh dented Tezuka’s confidence. He took a deep breath, trying to push those thoughts out of his head. “This was about someone else.”

“Eeeeeh? Tezuka! You have a crush on somebody else!!” Eiji turned to pause their walk home. They were already halfway there anyway and the redhead had always had a weakspot for gossip in one way or another. Especially when it came to relationships. He wasn’t known for following people like Ochibi and Momo around for no reason after all! “Who?!” He grinned brightly, counting off the people that it could be on his fingers, then he brightened up again. “Fuji! It has to be Fuji!”

Again, Tezuka shook his head. “Not Fuji.” As it was, Tezuka had barely seen the brunette lately. No, his crush was on someone much closer to home. He looked Eiji in the eye. “You really want to know?” Not that he hadn’t already made up his mind to tell the redhead.

“Yeah!! Why wouldn’t I want to know! It’s not one of the people at Kiva is it? Maya’s actress really pretty after all and then there’s Megumi’s actress. You’re going to be playing along side her a lot, right?” He thought about it for a little while longer. Then there were the other boys on the set. Eiji had no idea what kind of person Tezuka would like after all. He thought about it for a little while longer, eyes now watching the stars above them as the names played over in his mind.

“It’s one of the Kiva actors,” Tezuka said, nodding. He paused for a moment before adding softly, “it’s Kiva himself.” Or rather, the actor playing Kiva but he figured Eiji would get that.
“Kiva...” Eiji paused for a moment, confused for a little while as he stood there. Tezuka had said Kiva. But that can’t be right. He was Kiva. He blinked a few moments as he watched up at his captain, friend, Oishi’s best friend...His boyfriend’s long time best friend even. He took a deep breath. No...he must have heard wrong. “Kivat...?” That little companion bat did have a voice actor after all.

Tezuka gave the redhead a look. “Kiva. Or rather,” he looked straight at Eiji, “the actor playing Kiva.” Fighting the urge to look away or fiddle with his glasses or something, he added, “I like you.”

“EH!” Eiji backed off two steps, his breaths quickening as his heart pounded. Since when?! Oishi had given Tezuka advice and this was what it resulted in?! What kind of advice was his boyfriend giving to his best friend anyway! “I...uhh...” Oishi...what did you tell Tezuka? He fidgeted a little with his bag, not knowing what to say or how to even really respond. The thoughts kind of mixed in with one another. Tezuka went to talk to Oishi...Oishi gave Tezuka advice...

Knowing what it felt like to be suddenly told those words, Tezuka gave a small smile. “It’s fine,” he assured. “Just...give it some thought, okay?” After all, he’d needed time to figure out that situation with Kaidoh. “I only ask you not wait for forever.”

Not wait... Wait...that meant Tezuka was waiting for that kind of an answer. He backed off a few more steps, completely confused with that answer. So...when Tezuka had said date … he really meant..date. All those times they’d gone out to dinner had he been...inadvertantly cheating on Oishi? No...it doesn’t count if he didn’t know, right? But...Oishi had given Tezuka advice so...does that mean Oishi wanted them to...? “I...” He paused again, unsure of where to go with that sentence.

He gave Eiji a look. “Don’t try to come up with something now,” he ordered, using the buchou-tone. “I won’t listen to anything you say until at least tomorrow.” That’d be the earliest he’d let Eiji give him an answer. Tezuka wanted to make sure Eiji was completely sure on whatever response it was that he gave. “Perhaps,” he went on, “you should talk to Oishi about it as well.” It was no secret that the two members of Seigaku’s Golden Pair were close.

“Ah...” The redhead paused for a moment at the tone and nodded quietly, hand holding very tightly to the strap on his bag now and eyes looking away from him. He didn’t know to do, say or even look at as he stood there, biting on his lower lip and wondering over and over in his mind all the things he’d done for the past few weeks. Hesitantly, he was able to put a few words together. “Since..when...?” The mumbling was barely audible.

If there had been more people around or more noise, Tezuka would have missed the question completely. “I’m not entirely sure when,” he answered. “But awhile now.” At least a month that he’d really realized and acknowledged his crush.

“A while...” he repeated quietly and breathed in a long, slow shuddering breath. Then all the times they had gone out recently...all of those post Kiva recording or training sessions. During the taping of Destiny’s Play even...he chewed on his lower lip and glanced at Tezuka only for a moment before he dropped his gaze again. “And...Oishi told you...” What was his own boyfriend thinking...?

“He told me to go for it.” Tezuka gave in and pushed his glasses up. “That I shouldn’t stay quiet about things.” Better to say something and have a chance than to stay quiet and have a guaranteed nothing happen.

So Oishi likes...to share? His eyes widened a little as he stared back up at Tezuka. No way...Oishi was definitely not that kind of person. Then...maybe he was getting bored of him and wanted Tezuka to take him away. His breathing quickened once more as he started to become a little panicked, unsure of where this was really going. Was Oishi pushing him away? It was an Oishi thing to do...to find a way out that would be the least painful for the people around him but...like this...? “So … he told you to do that...” Eiji wracked his mind to say something more coherent but nothing really... “It sounds like something Oishi would say...”

“It is, isn’t it?” Tezuka gave a small chuckle. “Granted, we never mentioned names during our conversation, but...” he shook his head. “He really does give good advice.”

No names...how does Oishi give advice like that if he didn’t know what he was giving advice about?! He shook his head slightly and nodded a little bit. His panicking subsided just that little bit but he really needed to talk to Oishi about this. He managed a little smile but remained firmly where he was. Even if he told Tezuka how he felt right now...the other boy wasn’t going to listen anyway. And Oishi...he didn’t tell his best friend who his boyfriend was?

“Are you going to stand there all night?” Tezuka asked, walking over to the redhead. “I wouldn’t suggest it.” Feeling bold, he gently grabbed Eiji’s wrist and started leading the guy down the street. “Don’t want to get sick again, do you?”

Eiji flinched a little as he felt those fingers wrap around his wrists. His eyes widened slightly and trailed meekly behind Tezuka, unsure of what else to do. He, bit down lightly on his lower lip a moment before he gently pulled his hand away after they’d made it a little ways down. Eiji took two steps away from Tezuka and awkwardly bowed at him for just a few seconds. “I...I have to...” He mumbled before turning and dashing away from the captain, not knowing what else to say. He … had to go see Oishi. He had to see him now, even if it took all his energy to run all the way back to his apartment.

He let Eiji pull away and run off. Honestly, he hadn’t been expecting Eiji to really even let him do that much but Tezuka had been feeling bold at that particular moment. Besides, he’d told Eiji to think about things. And that was exactly what he assumed the redhead was going to go do.
