Friending Policy

Sep 24, 2015 01:27

By all means, go right ahead.

But would you mind to drop me a note about it, if we've not "met" before? I'm a bit uncomfortable with friending back folk with whom I've not had any personal contact.

ETA: Goodness, looks as if I've got to backdate this further in order to keep it "sticky." :-)

Out of pure mad curiosity, how do you know both tree and leaf and sovay?

sovay I met a couple of years back at NOMAD (the folk festival which migrated from Newtown to New Haven to Hamden and didn't happen in '08), due to the fact that she's a friend of a friend of mine who was also there.

tree_and_leaf I met online, through carlanime's LJ.

Out of the same mad curiosity, how'd you come to meet both, yourself?

sovay through a mutual friend at notHarvard. She also got me onto lj.

tree_and_leaf is a friend of straussmonster, who suggested that I ought to 'meet' her, given that we were both Anglican medievalists who worked on Germany.

NOMAD: you might conceivably have run into my father-in-law, Arnie Pritchard, as well.

It sometimes seems like a very small world, doesn't it?

I might have. I have to confess that the name doesn't ring any bells, but it's been a couple of years and I'm terrible with names, anyhow. What does he play?

Hi, I just came along wandering :) You're Irish :)

Greetings! I do believe I've seen you round Carla's LJ.

I'm not exactly Irish, but I reckon I'm as much that as I'm anything. ;-) Bit of a mutt, bit of a wanderer, all of that.

But you live there ?

Lived in Cork City for a time, years ago.

I live in the US today, but in a very Irish expat-heavy environment, mostly because it's what I do as an academic and a musician and all of that.

Is is alright if I add you? I found you via an interest keyword search for 'lutherie'. I guess someone really should start a lutherie group. Maybe I will when I get bored.

Sure thing! I'll go to add you back.

I've hardly done anything with lutherie, lately, beyond turning a banjo-uke into a nylon-string soprano banjo (new nut and bridge, modified steel-string guitar tuners). I should probably try to make up for that, at some point.

Thanks, good to 'meet' you. Actually, I haven't done much lutherie either (aside from reading and fantasizing). I started a re-fret new nut and saddle project a few years back but it's still in need of finishing. Maybe I'll get to it soon. Right now I'm in the middle of getting ready to move though so procrastination will probably continue to reign.

See you around!

I've added you just now. Anyone who appreciates fine Gorean modalities is a must for a friends list...

I just noticed that the carlanime lj's been deleted ... Oh alright then.

It's been a while, I think. She's back on FB all of a sudden--maybe she'll be back on LJ under her old handle again?

Oh yes, she is there on fb alright. She doesn't have any lj now, does she ? Just curious. I won't barge in if she doesn't want me to.

I just sent replies, 2 of them, but they aren't showing up on my sent messages list. So I think I will also put the reply here, and then delete it so you get it in mail, at least I hope so.
