Like the title says, I hate this cold I have.

I'd have hoped I was heading it off on Monday night when I took Airborne as soon as I could feel that little tickle in the back of my throat. Unfortunately, although I seem to be moving reasonably rapidly through the symptoms, I still have them.

In response to J.K. Rowling's recent comments about ( Read more... )

And while we're on the topic of sex and unicorns... pathology_doc September 27 2012, 15:45:18 UTC
If drinking unicorn blood enables one to cheat death at the cost of a cursed, 'half' life, what would drinking unicorn spooge grant one?

Hope your cold gets better. And that no unicorn substances (of any kind) are involved in the recovery.

Thank you for that disturbing image. Somebody really ought to write the story about it. But that somebody won't be me.

Thanks! I'm feeling a bit better today. Might even leave the house for something other than taking the dog out. No unicorn horn or hair has been consumed yet, and I reckon that will continue.

Hope you and yours are doing well.

Thank you! It's gone from being mostly congestion and feeling like death warmed over to mostly cough. A distinct improvement.

I've got about six hundred words written--should end up being about three times that in final length, I think.

Thanks!

Now I've got about 2700 words of it, and I think it's wanting at least another thousand. Usual story for me, really-whenever I try to write a drabble it always comes out 500 words.

I'm hoping to post it soon, but I may not be able to finish it as quickly as I'd like. My uncle's getting married this weekend, 1200 miles from here. We're driving, cos the state of my father's back means sitting for the duration of a flight isn't a viable option for him now. I'm packing now to leave tomorrow.

I always thought there could be lots of angsty tales with unicorns in Rowling's world. Like unicorns refusing to go near young Ginny after she was 'corrupted' by Riddle's possession (and Harry fuming over this). Her peers assuming it's because she's been promiscuous.

(While Ginny was The Girl Who Dates in the canon there's nothing suggesting she was sleeping around ... just kissing around.)

Actually I *think* I might have read a short story along exactly those lines waaaaay back at the start of my HP fandom experience.

Anyway, in addition to *voyeuristic* unicorns, I do hope that there are proving-that-Hermione-(and-Harry)-are-pure-at-heart unicorns as well. Showing that our couple are revered by those most magical of animals, yes?

Interesting idea, that.

Of course, in my mind it immediately goes to something where Harry and Hermione, in the course of trying to get Ginny's unicorn problem sorted, end up in a three-way betrothal with her. Or more likely a four-way betrothal with Luna, because Luna couldn't possibly resist getting involved.

Somewhere along the way, Hermione has a few pointed words with the unicorns, and Luna has a few more that are more sort of runcible spoon-shaped but which happen to be even more effective than Hermione's. As a result, the unicorns stop shunning Ginny.

Which continues even after the four are married, thereby confusing everyone to no end.

Somewhere along the way, Hermione has a few pointed words with the unicorns ...Actually this is even closer to my little day-dream HP fantasy ficlet - a 'bunny' I guess it's called, although I'm not a writer - back in the day. This was really early on, when I was content with the default H/G pairing, and I wanted to read a story where the unicorns shunned Ginny, her peers shamed her (gossiping behind her back) and then Harry get into righteous mode and have a frank talk with the unicorns. Who, magically, get the point ( ... )
