This one actually has massive magic use!
Allyson Guinevere Jones was what most people would call eccentric. Raised on a commune by old school hippies who were also powerful mages, her ability and willingness to separate fantasy from the real world was questionable at the best of times. Still, she was a gentle soul who loved people, and her greatest desire was to see them happy and safe and having a good time.
So it was easily overlooked when she randomly danced with people. It was easily accepted that she was as hyperactive as a five year old on Christmas morning. It wasn't even too outlandish when she randomly began jumping and twirling around bus stop benches and performing parlour maneuvers. It was, however, much harder to accept when she began giving orders and acting as if she knew how to respond to demonic and other supernatural horrors.
“Can you check their spiritual resonance and see if there's still something human about them?” Her tone was business like, the playfulness gone immediately. The sudden shift made Brian blink confusedly, adjusting his glasses as he turned to give Guinevere a questioning look.
“...do what?”
“Spiritual resonance.” Guinevere spoke slowly but firmly, as if trying to ensure Brian wouldn't suddenly flip out and go catatonic. He had noticed the magic use, which meant he had some supernatural abilities. She only hoped he had enough to be useful. Her skills were based towards combat, but she didn't want to begin unleashing fiery death upon creatures that were still humans. “Each supernatural creature has a spiritual resonance. If these zombies...”
Brian shook his head, cutting her off. “I know what you're asking about. I think I'm just surprised you asked. Luckily for you, I'm a priest of old gods. Dealing with spirits is something I do fairly often.”
He pulled off his glasses, cleaning them on his shirt carefully, almost ritually, before placing them back onto the bridge of his nose. He muttered a prayer under his breath, channeling the power of the Gods as it flowed from Olympus. His eyes saw with new sight, the Gods' sight, and he began to see details known only to them.
“They...don't *have* a spiritual resonance.” Brian was rather surprised. He'd encountered many things in his life, but not something without a spiritual resonance. Even automotons would pick up the resonance of their creator. Guinevere was equally surprised, her white eyebrows furrowing in concern.
“Huh. Is that even possible? Maybe with automatons...”
Brian shook his head. “No, even automatons pick up some small resonance from their creators. These don't exist on a spiritual level. I didn't think that was possible.”
Guinevere took a deep breath, and reached to her backpack to grab her wand. She pulled it loose from the Velcro strap she used to keep it attached, and gripped it tightly.
“Well, they're moving this way. How are you at distance scanning?”
Brian shrugged softly. “Depends on what I'm scanning for.”
“We need to figure out if there's any living people in this mall. Can you scan for it?”
Brian nodded. “I can do that, but it'll take me time. Can't really kill zombies and search for survivors magically at the same time.”
Guinevere seemed unconcerned. “Get on that, let me know when you have something. I'll keep these guys distracted for you.”
“But there's five of them!”
Brian's protests were ignored as Guinevere stepped out of the relative safety of the Gamestop. Her hand kept a strong grip on her wand as her bright emerald eyes pondered whether or not she'd need her armor. There were five of them, and she was trying to stall for the moment. She didn't want to kill any of them until she knew for a fact that they weren't normal people under some kind of spell.
The creatures, upon seeing her step into view, began moving towards her with a purpose. They scrambled as best they could, clearly wanting to get to her, presumably to eat her. And not in the fun way. Well, if nothing else, the light show from her transformation would blind them.
She swung her wand out, butterflying it around her before throwing it powerfully into the air. As it spun through the air, she spun on one heel. She planted her feet as she came out of the spin, and raised her arm into the air, using the focus of her dancing to activate the magical item she wore upon her finger. The simple band of a ring began to glow a bright golden color as the spell activated. Tendrils of energy began swirling down her body, attaching to her and making her look like a golden silhouette. She spun around again, taking her cues from the energy of the spell itself as it did the job it'd been created for. As she spun, the light around her feet exploded outwards, leaving a pair of thick, knee high white boots. Next came the skirt, knee length and grey, followed by a white tabard rolling down from her shoulders, golden angel wings painted on the front. Grey sleeves rolled down from her shoulders, and white gloves appeared on her hands.
The light from the spell dissipated just as Guinevere came out of her spin. She planted her feet firmly, catching her wand as it finally came down from her throw, and pointed it forward menacingly.
“I am Guinevere, angel of light and leader of the Magical Knights of New York. Stand down, foul creatures, lest I destroy you where you stand!”
The zombies didn't reply, and she hadn't expected them to. The light show was little more than magically manipulating the light particles around her to put on a light show to blind opponents, the clothing change a spell to change her normal clothing into armor. But when one cast spells using performance as a focus, it wouldn't do to stop in mid-performance. She did wish she could get a more subtle transformation these days, but she'd been a child when she'd had her wonder made as a reward for an act she'd performed, and at this part of her life, she wasn't about to give up a useful magical item just because it was a little more flamboyant than she'd like.
Brian, from inside the store, could do nothing but stand with his eyes wide.
“Swirl...?”
“Yeah boss?”
“...did you pay attention to what I was seeing?”
“I'm a little busy here.”
“...She just did a full on magical girl transformation. Silhouette and all.”
“So now you want to have sex with her?”
“I don't really think I have much of an option at this point.”
“Good to know some things never...oh shit, gotta go.”
That jerked Brian out of his awe. He mentally yelled at his familiar, but got no answer. He looked back to Guinevere, watching her spin and jump through the group, clearly relying on speed and grace to keep her out of the zombie's grasp. And speed and grace she had in spades. He once more cursed in Greek, before beginning to pray in an attempt to find any living beings.
