I'd have to re-watch it, but I think Sophie's metamorphosis back to her younger self was explained (I couldn't tell you if it was plainly, but I'm pretty sure it was explained).

A lot of it had themes of Alice in Wonderland, I noticed, so the door could just be one of those random Wonderland things. Like the umbrella birds or just why was it a rabbit hole that led to said world.

Howl was win and the fact that he was voiced by Kimura Takuya in the Japanese version just makes it all that much more of a win. *----* TA-KU-YA~~~~ ♥
