It had taken him a little longer to get his stuff than he'd thought he needed; he ran down the stairs, hoping he wasn't too late. It was especially embarrassing considering how little he had with him -- a worn knapsack holding a few bottles of water, his tape and 'phone, and the helmet of his uniform hung over one shoulder. Apart from that, all he had was the tape he'd wrapped around his hands and boots. (Which all things considered looked kind of silly.)

Out the door he went, stopping to catch his breath. Someone was here; he didn't get left behind. Thank God.
