Start of university
Or, just a post to say I'm still alive, having not updated since May or the like. |D; Goes to show I'm about as bad at updating as ever. (And no translations, even though I've tried to translate a few things since then. ; How bad). The post is quite long, though.
In any case, since then I've taken my Japanese A2 exam and gone on a Japanese language summer course at the university I would be attending. Thought the exam was a bit hard (especially the writing part, as usual: my ability to write kanji is still not that great at all), but thankfully the result was fine.
I liked the summer course a lot. The people I met on it were nice (speaking as a not-at-all social person. |'D), there were some fun events organised, and I managed to add at least a bit onto my Japanese. Generally a good experience, I thought. It also helped me with getting to know the university more for when I arrived in September, so it was also useful in that regard.
That having been said, I started university today, more or less, although I think it's mostly orientation and getting organised until next week. I took the Japanese placement test on the summer course, so thankfully I won't have to do that tomorrow. Instead, I'm going with my mum (who's in Japan until Saturday) to see if I can open a bank account here. Things seem to be going fine so far: I sort of know my way around university/where to go shopping and the like from the summer course, and everyone's been very helpful. I've liked the university from my experience with it up until now, so hopefully things will continue to be fine. |D
Probably, my only reservation is about the dormitory. Nothing to do with the building itself (which is new), the people (who seem nice), or my roommate (who also seems nice), but I'm not sure if the way it's stuctured suits me. I don't really know if anything can be done about it, and I feel a bit bad about saying anything in case people think that it's because I dislike something (not to mention it was my fault- in hindsight, I really should have realised that, as having my own room suits me best, I shouldn't have opted for the dorm where you have to share a room over one where you have your own. ; I stay up late, and feel bad that I might be keeping my roommate up, which is also my fault), but perhaps I should at least say that I'm worried about it if asked. I don't really know what to do. =/ I guess we'll see how things go.
That's probably the only thing which is bothering me, though. Again, things have been good otherwise. |D;
Apart from that, I haven't been doing anything noteworthy, I think. Most recently, I've been looking for trades on Soul Silver, playing through Emerald, and reading Discworld. If anyone wants to trade or the like (as I'd consider myself useless at battling) when I'm at home, feel free to ask or the like. No Wi-Fi at university, unfortunately. |D;
Ah, I've also been stalking Umineko and Black/White information for spoilers. Having not liked episode 6 of Umineko all that much, I'm glad that I seem to be liking episode 7 better. Black/White's also looking good. I'm looking forward to its (their?) release in a few weeks. |D
I was also thinking about making a separate post with all the stuff about pairing likings (and possibly fandom likings) moved there from my profile. I can't take any credit for the idea: I happened across someone else who did things like that, and it seemed like a good idea (especially with the length it currently is- it might make it shorter/neater, at least). So, a separate reference post like that might be forthcoming.
