It's funny, I've been thinking about the exact same thing. I miss writing, as well, but no longer post my life details publicly on blogs (after one too many incidences of Creepy Dudes). And the friends I have either live in my city, and therefore don't write long letters to me, or are too busy for letters at all.

I need a penpal too, I think... or maybe a secret cabal of women who share long letters about their lives and what they've been thinking. It could be called the Reply All Conspiracy.

I just feel like since Facebook, most of my friends don't really call to talk on the phone either. They just assume I saw their Facebook post. Even my friends who I don't see very often. Maybe it's also the growing up and getting jobs and getting busy thing. But I feel like since college, I haven't had an honest conversation with someone that wasn't one of the following: What did you do today? Did you see Silver Linings Playbook? Was it good? Good. Where do you want to go for dinner? Person A and Person B broke up. I never liked him/her anyway ( ... )

I agree with your thoughts on letter writing. I definitely feel that it's an art form that needs to continue.
