Winter. A servant darts by nimbly, laden with firewood. Wood in his bony hands and wood in his stomach. Hot wisps of smoke billow from his mouth.
Lips glossed with alcohol, Tomomasa sighs. Ivory fingers grip the neck of an empty bottle. Draped across porch steps, he admires the new moon, for moonlight makes him beautiful - lashes bathed in shadow and legs spread oh so provocative.
He is maddening. A rose sucking greedily from the blood of man.
And Yasuaki, who cannot understand love, wonders what it is that makes him rise.
