I think it's important to give everyone a fair shot, but you can't blame yourself when friendships go toxic-flaky. You needn't feel guilty cutting losses either.
And "Static and Silence" is a great album for this state of mind. Kudos on your choice.

I could go the route of confrontation (which I've done with a lot of success) but I never like doing it because it makes whatever change that happens between us feel like *I* caused them to change and it wasn't their realization that they'd dropped the ball.
I think most of them have run their course, which is sad because almost all of them are friendships I've had for less than four years.
