Title: Always and For Never Yours

I love the mixture of seriousness with a bit of the sense of humor that marks the characters, and how you brought up their shared histories in an understated way. Especially with France, so sad and sweet. Just a lovely and thoughtful exploration of Vietnam's turbulent past, how strong the nation is and will continue to be. Thank you again.

I kept the historical references deliberately vague... The history between France and Vietnam is rather ugly at certain points, and it seemed wrong to elaborate on that sort of thing when this story is about Vietnam moving on and finding her own way in the world. She hasn't forgotten what happened to her, but she's choosing not to dwell on it for her own sake as well as her people's.
