*confused*

*wondering if his mom was just a dream or hallucination this entire time, and if it were... then he has no one to protect him*

*turns back to Ottoman*

I'm sorry...

Yes you are, what did he even do that warranted getting his face planted? Something stupid and small like eating candy or... oh, I don't know, making too much noise?

--You're... not? [hands on hips] then what is all this "let him let you go" about, then?? And you know, Sadiq, I really don't understand your situation. At every turn, you present yourself as someone to be feared and hated, and then you expect respect? The tyrants of Athens tried that, you know, Sadiq. It didn't end well.

He stole, he lied, he talked back. All in one minute. Seriously, you know well that crimes must be punished.

Didn't mean necessarily literally, the letting go. Release him from the delusion that you're there to clean up his mess forever.

I must be both feared and respected. Works just fine, if you do it right.

I bet you were starving him, you scared him so much he couldn't help but lie, and you overreacted when he spoke back to you. Crimes are one thing. A child behaving as all frightened children do is another.

W-well I'm trying, alright? I'm trying!

Hah. You certainly know how to, oh yes.

None of these. He's a country that belongs to an empire and he needs to learn the rules! End of story.

Try harder. Or I bet it'll backfire.

Works with Europe and the Middle East, so far!

The way you can look at a country that--no matter their age!--for all intents and purposes is physically a child, and treat it the way you do... it never ceases to amaze me. Perhaps you can't see out of that mask at all.

Some encourager you are.

And I bet they just love you.

Hard truth?! The hard truth is that you're abusive to those smaller than you, that's the hard truth.

...L-lovi was fond of me... A-and as for some... my bosses were... nngh.

Won't be abusive if they're behavin! There's a reason why I'm benevolent to some and harsh to others.

I still say you have a rather broad definition of "misbehaving."

I-I don't know, haha... I can totally see it as being true, it's just that canon is mum on it :Ia palaiomator January 18 2010, 02:07:15 UTC
A-ah. Y-yes, you definitely would, um, have to... If he w-was indeed, that'd certainly change things, wouldn't it?

Unconscious attachment, eh... ...ahhh, what am I saying?!

T-though I'm pretty sure he's not. His personality. Whiny, cowardly, stupid, clingy. Nothin like me. Or you, for that matter, but yeah.

Oh no, this is quite fun, hohoho palaiomator January 18 2010, 02:18:09 UTC
[coughs, fiddles with hair, still looking resolutely at anything but him]

He's none of those things, y-you make him act that way. He's my precious shining son, he doesn't have to be like anyone to make that true.
