That's because during lightning storms Hattifatteners gather electricity. They become dangerous to touch when they're electrified, so you have to be really careful around them.

W-well... they aren't evil creatures, so maybe they're just trying to be nice to Sweden and it's just not working really well because they're electrified?

Sweden gets along with animals so well... even though I don't know if Hattifatteners can be counted as animals, as they grow from seeds...

Hattifatteners don't have a mouth, so they couldnt eat him.

They're not really bad creatures and don't try to harm you unless you anger them first for example by trying to take their precious barometer away from them... so they're probably just trying to be friendly!

Which isn't really good when they're electrified...
