Hetalia the new Twilight?

AARGH one of my friends is getting fed up with Hetalia, she saw some cosplayers at the mall and she said "FUCK THIS SHIT." and flipped a fucking table. She never was into it, most of the people she talks to are Hetalia fans, and she's telling me its like Twilight: ITS EVERYWHEEEERE. Also that the fans are batshit crazy.

So I tried to tell her 1- Its like any other fandom, especially when it comes to anime, its no different (fan wise I suppose) and 2- Its not like Twilight at all in popularity at least.
Then she retorts, saying "At least the Twilight fans know the book is terrible. Hetalia fans don't."

I can somewhat understand her annoyance with fans, but I'm telling her its like any other fandom and not to take them seriously :T
ARRRFUCKINGRRGH. What the hell do I tell my friend who obviously doesn't want to listen to me?

She told me mostly because she doesn't like the "KAWAII DESU SHOUJO" pretty boys that anime is prone to. To her, Germany should be some fat guy in lederhosen drinking beer and be scary.

But I think its mostly the fans she doesn't like. I think she's taking them way too seriously though.. I haven't seen any crazy Hetalia fans as batshit crazy as Twilight fans...

:I I dunno, it just made me think.... I just love how comparing something to Twilight is like a huge insult.

This reminds me of when my classmate said that she doesn't like Hetalia because

- It got suddenly popular and she totally had a friend who had heard of it a year before it got super popular

- She saw a fanmade video of it on youtube and it was BADLY DONE

Nothing to say really, but she's wrong, not all twilight fans know it's terrible. Seriously, I wish they did.

Also, I haven't seen any Hetalia cosplay in NY but idk, I know they do things, just never saw them that I'd complain, or maybe I'm not bothering to notice it or something. :\

also what's she talking about, Hetalia Is Everywhere? I know TWO hetalia fans irl, and they have only see the anime. Plus it isn't as if the books are in bookstores across America and a movie playing at every cinema, even my little hometown one that hasn't even managed to get the Princess And The Frog, so... lighten up, girl, it isn't that prevailent yet. :\

My point exactly! But I suppose she's looking at it internet-wise? BAH I don't know. She started complaining that its even in MySpace surveys; then I thought ":I man, now you're just PURPOSELY looking for it wtf you don't even LIKE myspace" which was basically "Do you like Germany and Italy from APH together? HUUUR~"

I guess it is rather prevailent internet-wise, though those claims can get exxagerated. Hetalia stuff ends up on the front page of dA a fair amount, yes, but it isn't EVERY SINGLE DEVIATION and it isn't EVERY SINGLE DAY, either. :I And pff who the heck cares about what silly people on myspace are chattering about, man, let them chatter... :\
