"Sch" is pronounced like the English "sh", a sharp sound where you press the air out between your teeth... and I have no example for "ch", orz

I can almost hear an "i" right after the Ts, as in "Schmitthien"... or are my ears just untrained orz

Hm, it probably isn't unlike that for a foreign speaker, but for "ch"-users the sound is so distinctive that we wouldn't hear an "i".
And reading it again; Jesus Christ, did I ever sound like an entitled asshole throughout this thread, just because I can pronounce a "ch"?! Oh man, I'm so sorry! orz orz orz
