;A; Oh, I didn't mean for you to be nervous! I just had a couple questions about your characterization and stuff.

First of all, I notice you picked an actual year! 1610, it was, right? I thought that was insanely cool of you to have a single, concrete year, since so many rpers just have a generic era.
So was there anything in particular that made you choose that year? Did you study it for a paper and then decide it was interesting or something like that?

Second of all, I notice that your characterization is really consistent. You tend to play him with a very cool, neutral personality. He slides into things and doesn't react to much.
However, in my experience, he's generally played as a very passionate, enthusiastic, reactionary person. Is this difference a result of your chosen time period, or your own thoughts on the character?

oh, thanks! ;w; diosorogloria May 30 2011, 02:51:20 UTC
Yes, 1610. I was reading through Spain's history, particularly the time of the Spanish Empire. I was attracted to the period of the Pax Hispanica, the time when the Empire was at its peak. Spain had peace treaties with England and France. The colonies were doing quite well. The Dutch territories were being taken care of and there is a truce. The Iberian Union was in full swing. Spain's recovering from bankruptcy, but well, no big conflicts were going on. 1610 was a year after the truce with the Dutch territories was finalized, so I figured Spain was in a pretty great and comfortable place and was actually considered the world power ( ... )

Hmm, yes, he is a bit calmer nowadays. I think it's because something just needs to set him off. I think he still has canon!Spain's er, touch of laziness and laid-back attitude, lol. I think he likes to believe he's powerful enough that he chooses not to outright threaten people unless he has to; his reputation should be enough. Plus I think he likes lulling them into a false sense of security. Likes toying with them a little and then striking when they least expect it. Plus it's a time of peace for him. He likes to keep it that way.

Nowadays, what triggers normal!Spain in him is his friends and their stupid antics, lol. Also England, if he's being particularly bratty and flustered. Romano too, though at times he feels like tossing him in the sea. ^^; So, people close to him bring out normal!Spain.

And, one more thing. Is there any reason he has a cooler face to show in the first place? It almost feels as if he'd be more intimidating if his enthusiasm was put into misguided morals and selfishness and disregard for others, even into ( ... )
