Good evening! Or morning! Or afternoon? Whatever time is it, good (that time)! How was your week? Mine was all right, I went to see Anonymoous which was... hmmm... well, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. I almost wished I'd waited until it could be rented on DVD so my friends and I could have snarked it up, it was just begging for it. The costumes ( Read more... )

Do you think your siblings talk different than you? Like, have a stronger sort of accent or weaker accent than you?

I have a stronger accent, at least since I moved to Skåne. I didn't have much of one earlier, now I exaggerate it, mostly subconsciously.

I don't have any siblings but my friend in NY does and they all have a way stronger Brooklyn accent than she does, dunno why. She's lived in Brooklyn all her life just like the rest of 'em, but she is the youngest, so I'm guessing media has played a part, who knows for sure

'A' No. People confuse us on the phone/skype. Even her husband, sometimes. Which can be pretty awkward.

As far as accent, I think my brother and I are pretty much the same. Other aspects of our speech are different, though.

My first younger brother and I used to be confused for each other over the phone until his voice deepened, so I guess we're pretty similar.

My little sister says "for some reason" a lot, often where it doesn't belong, and has an over-dramatic way of speaking sometimes, which fits her personality, really. She may be shy at school but her nickname at home has always been Madam.

My my litt little br little b broth my little bro brother takes, take, he takes, my little brother takes, um, my little brother takes for fore forever to forever to tell tell a story OH MY GOD LITTLE BRO YOU ARE THE CUTEST THING IN THE UNIVERSE BUT GET ON WITH IT...

oh and none of us have a strong regional accent either way, our parents have really neutral accents.

Yesss, I have five siblings and we all live in nyc.

My two older siblings talk ghetto/street with tons of slang words but they grew up in Washington heights so...

My middle sister has a upstate NY/high class twang but she's always went to school with preppy drama students and now she goes to a private performing arts college.

The sister closest to me in age has something like a Californian accent mix with my own accent that I dunno what to call it... but she watches a lot of tv and follows celebrities. And my little brother seems to follow that but he shares my lispy, fast and mumbling way of talking.

But it's all about environment and you are with. You adapt your speech to fit in.

Everyone says my sister and I sound exactly alike, but everyone is wrong--it's not just what I think I sound like in my head, either, I've heard us recorded and we really do not

I guess I sound more generically Midwestern than she does, but that's because she's got this weirdass accent she appears to have made up all on her own.

Nor's got a pretty strong accent. I don't have one at all, though, so I can imagine it's hard for people to realize we're family.

Bullshit. You always had one. Just go to the trouble to pretend like you don't nowadays, is what.

W-Why would I pretend I don't have one... Are you saying I used to have one when I was a kid?

I'm sayin' you still have one when you let your guard down.

Can't imagine why you'd pretend like it, mind.

See? I have no reason to hide an accent. Must just be your imagination or something. Maybe you need more rest these days, Nor.
