The final days are here...
So the final days are here... I have exactly 3 more days to get my move to Vancouver done.
Today was mostly running errands. I had to go to work to get the rest of the week off to actually finish my move. I had to make arrangements with my boss as to when I'm starting my new job (well, not totally new, I am transferring to another location. same boss). I had to pick up my remaining things from work, including my license to work. I had to make photo copies of pay stubs, bank statements, and tax returns for the hospital (to try and get assistance for my ER bill since I have no medical) and run that to the billing office. I had to buy trash bags. I had to pick up a pair of winter/storm boots that someone borrowed... And I had to go by my psych doctors office to get information on where I can get treatment in my new city. Not a whole lot, but enough to keep me a little busy for a while.
I really had a great talk with my boss today though and she is SO wonderful and understanding. I was supposed to have Sunday and Today off from work, and they gave me the rest of the week off (I wasn't put on the following schedule)... and since I am transferring to another one of her shops... she literally told me to call her after I get down there and tell her what day I want to start my new job. She said all I have to do is call her and say "Hey, I want to work tomorrow...what time should I be there??" ...great bosses are so hard to come by sometimes and I REALLY appreciate Missy and Jerry.
I got a few things packed....sorted out a couple of junk drawers. Luckily I only have a couple of rooms to worry about. The main thing is going to be packing everything out and dealing with the storage unit on Thursday. Unfortunatly the first part of our "fresh start" is going to be on an air mattress in our friends living room in their apartment. But it will be nice to NOT have my moms nose in ALL of my business and not grilling me when I get sent home from work early because its slow... I told the bf I don't want to be a bitch or make him feel like I'm being pushy, but he needs to find work ASAP when we get there...anything is better than nothing.
It would be a great start if he is lucky enough to start off doing maintenance with our friend at the apartment complex. Then we would have a rent-free apartment to help get us on our feet. But we will worry about that after the first.
Tomorrow we HAVE to get more packing done and we have to buy a new alternator for the truck and get it fixed so that we CAN move boxes on Thursday. There isn't a whole lot that I can do to help with fixing the truck, but I will have to take him to get the part since he doesn't know where it is...and I'm the only one w/ a debit card! I'm hoping to get everything done by wednesday afternoon and ready to go for the next day. I also want to talk to our friends in Vancouver and see if maybe we can bring our son down Wednesday night. They are staying home for new years and then Nic can play with the kids. I WANT to make it to a co-workers new years eve party. I haven't seen her since a few days before Christmas. Her son came into town a few days before and so she took all this time off (until after the first) to spend time with him. I really like Doreen and she is a little peeved at the fact that I'm leaving. She just moved here a year ago and doesn't have many friends. So I really want to go to her house and spend some time with here BEFORE I go.
So as I'm sitting here typing this... a friend of mine (not really a close friend though) msg'd me on msn. I was actually friends more with one of her older brothers in high school. Since then we got to know each other and she even watched my son for a while too. Turns out she moved to Vancouver about 3 weeks ago, and lives in apartments a little over a mile away from where I will be! It will be nice to already know another person there...and to have her live so close too!! I'm still a bit nervous about all of this, but I know its going to be for the best.
Anyway, enough for now... I will try to post more tomorrow evening...
