Today the energy-saving curfew kicks in even earlier than before, at 18:00. Within the next several minutes power is cut from the recreational computer, the radio tower, and the EMF generator. Lights go out early in the ag levels as well, as photoperiods in different sections of the greenhouse are decreased from default settings by four hours, ( Read more... )

Well, fuck. The lights were out earlier again. The clock on Church's HUD read 1800, a full two hours before they'd been cutting out in the past couple days. The intercoms still didn't work. He hadn't tried anything else yet, but he had his portable, low on battery as he hadn't tried to recharge it since the power cuts had begun. A quick attempt to post a question to the computer network failed as well, so great, the Rec computer network was down. Fuck, fuck, fuck. Not like he was in any danger - the one benefit of already being dead. But they were running out of time, and if everyone else died, his chances of getting off this stupid bullshit chunk of ice would be pretty goddamn slim.

Lacking any ability to contact anyone, Church headed to the dining room, grabbing one of the hand-powered flashlights along the way. Maybe some of the others would be there eating dinner. It seemed a good enough place to meet up, in any case, and talk. Maybe they could figure something out.

Delirium wandered into the dining room from the other side, her path lit by a small, glowing jellyfish that floated in front of her near her feet. This place was... small. The halls didn't start or end anywhere, but you could walk around in them forever and always pass the same things over and over again. It took her a few moments to notice Church at the other end of the room, but when she did she waved both arms at him.

"Hello!" she called.

"Huh?" He turned at the unfamiliar voice, and stared momentarily at her, then at the glowing jellyfish. That wasn't normal. But she didn't seem harmful. "Uh, hi. You must be new. Name's Church," he said, walking toward her with a hand extended in greeting. "How long've you been here?"

"I'm not new, " she replied. "I've been me for a long time. But I haven't been me here for very long." She looked down at his hand, then took it enthusiastically. "I'm Delirium, pleased to meet you, Church!"
