On the fire escape, we stopped and we looked down.

In the early, early hours of the morning, something changes. The slow, gentle up-and-down sway of the past week and a half, caused by the changing mass of the TARDIS and ISES' regular attempts at correcting for it, is no more. Instead, over the course of the day, gravity slowly starts decreasing. The morning's 0.8 g, now familiar to the residents ( Read more... )

In the early morning as Sam was preparing for her latest EVA to install the Mass negation system on the TARDIS, the change in acceleration struck Sam as rather odd.

She debated for a moment whether to go talk to Ises, or go up to the observation deck to look for herself. As she was in the EVA storage refilling her oxygen tanks she decided to check out the observation deck first.

Climbing up the observation deck she looked out the window towards Morpheus, looking for anything different. In particular she was looking to see if the rocket contrails of the attitude control Jets that had been burning almost continuously for the last week, and forming a significant glowing coronal tail off the anti-spinword side of Morpheus, were still firing.

Morpheus was dark and alone in the sky. The jets had fallen silent.

Cursing softly, Sam hurried to the control room and booted ISES.
As the system finished booting up Sam asked, "What's the current situation? Are our rocket fuel reserves depleted?"

"Hello, and thank you for-" Isis cut herself off as Sam asked her questions. "Affirmative. Constant corrections for anomalies in acceleration have depleted rotational thruster fuel reserves. It is no longer possible to correct for anomalies in acceleration."
