Observation Deck carter_on_ice February 20 2010, 01:38:32 UTC
Sam grabbed a portable computer from the wreck room and headed up to sit in the observation deck to write a little bit about herself for the benefit of the other colonists. She'd been unsure about how much to share, given the secrecy that surrounded her work, but it seemed increasingly unlikely that they were in her home dimension or that anyone else here was from her dimension.
She sat looking out the observation deck window with the computer on her lap, and had just finished a snarky reply to church's comment on the public forum when who should poke his head through the hatch, but Robin, the boy wonder himself.
"So what brings the Boy Wonder to this part of the station?" she asked by way of a friendly greeting.

Robin pulled himself up the ladder, frowning thoughtfully. "I'm doing a maintenance check. ...I don't think I've ever mentioned my nickname... you know who I am, then? I mean... from your home dimension?"

"I sort of know who you are?" Sam said as she continued to type. "In my universe you are a fictional comic book character, usually Batman's sidekick. Although admittedly, it's been years since I borrowed any of my brother's comic books, so haven't been following recent developments. I also really couldn't say which Robin you are."

Robin's jaw dropped. That was not quite what he'd been expecting. "Wha-?!" There was a lot to process there. "...Church said much the same thing, but I just thought- wait, what year is it where you're from?"

Hangar lord_and February 20 2010, 02:36:38 UTC
In the hangar, the Master was on the lower level, inspecting the electrical cables in the parking spaces. They were fairly unremarkable, probably just charger cables. The bigger mystery was where the vehicles that were meant to be parked here had got to. He was on his way towards the far wall and the door when he heard footsteps on the catwalk above. Looking up, he spotted Robin through the grating.

Robin spotted the other man immediately. "Hey, Cyril," he greeted. "How are you adjusting to things so far?" Even as he spoke, Robin was busy checking the hangar over. He checked the pressure on the control panel... normal. Nearby vents seemed to have proper airflow. He ran his eyes over the ceiling... no visible cracks or other defects. Robin started down the stairs.

There wasn't much adjusting to do, he thought. Space was full of these kinds of places. It was just that normally he got to choose if he had to be on one of them, and usually he had some kind of purpose or plan already in place. And that adjustment, he wasn't sure yet how he was doing with it.

"I've had worse." Not wanting a follow-up, however, he continued. "What do you make of this place? The hangar, that is." He'd found himself rather curious about Robin's manner of thinking, watching him inspect the place as if he was in charge. Or, not in charge, but rather as if he was personally invested in everyone's well-being. There was something about him that tickled his need for an adversary, but the boy was clearly far too young to be any proper fun. Kids were too unpredictable.

"What do I make of it?" It was an odd question, but it was true there were a lot of odd things about the hangar. "It's big. There's room for a fairly sizable craft. There isn't any sort of runway or landing pad outside, however, and with the way these asteroids are spinning it would be extremely difficult to bring a craft in for a landing. I'm thinking they could teleport the craft directly into the hangar, since so far they've shown accuracy and precision with us- no one's ended up with their legs in the floor. ...There are also very obviously spaces for electric vehicles of some sort, but no sign of them or a spaceship. Hard to tell whether or not they were ever here." As he spoke he continued his check of the hangar; reaching the bottom of the stairs he walked along the 'northern' wall, running his eyes over the surface in search of defects.

The past several days had given Shadow quite a lot to think about, little of it good. How could something possibly contain him? It just didn't make sense. He felt sure that if there was some sort of intense power source generating some sort of containment field, he would have noticed it. Unless it wasn't specifically running on Chaos Energy. Could an electrical device ever be able to do such a thing? It was worth a look, and so he'd scoured the colony for any sign of such machinery. Having found nothing obvious, he was now in the process of dismantling the wall panels in the center of the colony, determined to find some explanation.

He was so focused on doing this, so frustrated, that he didn't even notice Robin walking toward him.

Robin followed the noise, spotting Shadow as he came out of one of the axial corridors. His eyebrows went up, and he headed towards the hedgehog. It was not so much that Shadow was dismantling the panels; it was the slightly... violent manner in which he was doing so. "What are you doing?" Robin asked.

((Oh no! XD; ))

He was able to restrain himself from throwing the latest panel at Robin's face, instead casting it aside calmly as he fixed him with an irritated glare. "Trying to find the source of the damping field that's keeping me here," he explained.

"...Ah." Robin frowned a little. He'd been hoping to talk to the hedgehog, but it was obvious he was in a bit of a mood. Robin could understand why... it was bad enough for any of them to be trapped here, but for a teleporting creature to be unable to teleport... it would be like Robin losing his arms and legs.

Robin thought for a moment, trying to decide how best to proceed. "...Need some help?" he offered.

Cropping room jamesmayrpg1 February 20 2010, 12:39:20 UTC
The seeds of their first crop are in and need to be watered. They are beginig to sprout underthe microwave lamps.

Sitting not far, holding a book to read about kelp farming to see how that is done is James' goal for the shift.

If he doesn't see the county he'll feed the pig and chicken's in the home.

Robin came quietly (as he does) into the room. Spotting James and seeing his choice of reading material, he smiled and approached him. "Bet you always wanted to know all about kelp farming, huh?" he commented with dry sarcasm. "This place sure does provide us with the most thrilling opportunities." He smirked lightly.

James looked up from his book. "Yes, such learning experiences to write home about." He closed the book. "I'm a city boy, always said that to Richard and the rest. I'm so not into this, but I'm doing it because I have to. I know that."

"What brings you down here?"

Robin nodded. "Yeah, me too. ...I've been on a farm once or twice, like, set foot on one, but I've never had to be a farmer." He sighed, glancing around the greenhouse. "The continuing adventures of Robin, Boy Wonder..." he murmured, mostly to himself.

He returned his attention to James. "Maintenance check," he replied. "I was down here earlier today, of course, but I was busy with planting. I've done everything else I need to do today so I thought I'd walk around, make sure all the vents are working properly, all the lights work, all the water's flowing, all the mist nozzles are spraying..."
